Default Extra entry paper work at Spanish border control

Hello All, I noticed a number of Media FB posts in recent days about extra paper needed to enter Spain....i.e. proof of : return ticket / enough money for your stay / booked accomodation for your visit. None of this was asked for 3 wks ago when I went to benidorm...it may well be a potential requirement but is it being enforced or is it these media sites looking for click bait.

We have been holidaying here for over 20 years and will be travelling in 3 weeks for our 1st visit since Covid.

Any info much appreciated.

All you need is your proof of vaccination. Nothing else. It is just another scare story.

I came on Thursday and family came yesterday

Just shows how popular and influential the Pollensa Forum is!
It would not surprise me if the contenders in the current leadership!!! race start to post on it.

An interesting thought.

Perhaps stand as the 'any one but a previous member of the Convicts cabinet' candidate.

On second thoughts, stay where you are Sparky. The UK is not a good place to be at the moment.

MDB link Outrage in the UK over Spain’s new travel requirements for Britons

This requirement has been raised before.
I believe this requirement applies to "Third Country" persons applying for a visa to visit Schengen Countries.
Although I thought UK had special status so do not need a visa at the moment. See Etias Visa, coming in in 2023.

ETIAS IS THE NEW VISA WAIVER FOR EUROPE
Nationals of non-EU countries that do not require a visa for the Schengen Area will need to register for a new visa waiver online, before their trip. ETIAS will be operational from May 2023.

Visa-exempt travellers will need to provide basic information and passport details. There will also be some safety and security questions. This information will be cross-checked against international security databases to detect potential security risks.

If ETIAS is denied, the traveller will not be able to travel to the Schengen Area without a visa.

The ETIAS visa waiver will be linked to the applicant’s passport. It is valid for 3 years, or until the passport expires, whichever is sooner. With the approved ETIAS, non-EU nationals will be able to visit the Schengen Area visa-free for up to 90 days per 180-day period.

More sensationalist posts from the MDB

The new scheme starts in May 2023 and will operate in a similar way to the US ESTA visa waiver.

Cheap, easy to apply and obtain, and lasts 2/3 years.

No panic!
