Smile Majorca OPEN FOR TOURISTS

With Majorca now announcing they are open without quarantine from July 1st also Jet2 and Ryannair flying there again, also the Shuttlebus delivering tourists to P. Polensa , also the bars and restaurants open , then I have booked my early holiday and so looking forward to seeing my beloved part of the world again. On the 5th July flight... Counting the days...

Isn't the foreign office still advising us against travelling? In that case no insurance cover will be "honoured", unless you have managed it somehow.

YES, BUT LIKE THE 14 Day isolation I'm convinced this will be cancelled by July 1st.

Yes. It is looking doubtful that my daughter will be able to visit in July, as she had hoped

A flight from Madrid to Lanzarote had someone who had tested positive for Covid on it and they have quaranteened a lot of people

It was a person from the Island who had gone there for a funeral taken ill while he was there had a test but took the flight back anyway !

How bad is that to not stay put if you know you are sick. How irresponsible

OK, so i'm down but NOT out. Jet2 have cancelled flights until 15th. July so I have received a refund or in my case changed the flight until my September trip so nothing lost. East Mids car park gave me a full refund and the Shuttle bus from Palma airport to p.Pollenca allowed me to change dates and times for what is the Good News. (Or is it) That I have now booked with Ryannair who are flying a daily schedule from July 1st. and I am rebooked with them for the 4th.July . Fingers and toes crossed.

Good luck Grandad! I'm booked to come out on 16/7 but have no idea if it will actually happen. Someone told me that they had hard of someone getting to Amsterdam and flying to Palma from there and getting in. Sounds unlikely, but he reckoned it happened!

It has been reported in the press that quite a few have got to Palma only to be turned back because they can't justify their entry, so it's a bit risky to say the least.

We are no longer part of the EU.
The EU can and will choose to accept people from EU countries but take a different view on others. So unless we start softening our attitude towards negotiations, you can expect them to harden their attitude to us.

We Brits will have our noses pressed against the window this summer whilst the rest of Europe goes on holiday. Sadly, you get what you voted for. But, hey, that's democracy.

Or they might let us return when they believe it's safe to do so.

I don't think they will after all Brits make up 35% of tourists to Spain and it's Islands, plus they sell more to us than we sell to them. But, hay , that's democracy.

This is the crux of the matter - it is all about the R numbers

It is not just Spain that are wary of a second wave or infection being imported currently one can drive today from for example from Germany to Italy via Austria without any controls and stop in Austria for fuel / natural rest stops /overnight stays BUT not the reverse. Exit Italy and you have to drive non stop no breaks / refuelling if found breaking this - a 1450 Euro fine is levied , a mechanical breakdown is exempt from the fine.
Austria becomes a transit country ''from an infected area '', Switzerland has even stiffer requirements before allowing entry at the border.
This may relax from 15 June but this is unconfirmed.
- Source - German version of the AA/RAC

The pilot project this week till the end of June of allowing 10,000 German tourists to travel to Majorca is under stiff controls and only open to German passport holders and is subject to checks at departing airports and on arrival so lets hope the pilot project goes smoothly and then this will fingers crossed allow the rest of Europe and beyond travel once again to the places we all love.
