Default Price of bottled water in Palma Airport

I've always been shocked by the silly price charged in most of the outlets in Palma Aiport for bottled water. It seems like a 'tourist con' that most of the bottles cost 3 euros 60 each and at the same time most of the drinking water fountains seem to have disappeared. I was pleased therefore when Aena announced last year that they would indeed start selling small (33cl) bottles of water at just one euro each. This was after many complaints about the elevated price of water sold in the airports and this then leading to representations being made to the Public Defender in Spain about the matter.

Having found none of the bargain bottles on my recent trip back through Palma Airport, I wrote to AENA via their FB page....and this is the answer I received.

Saludos"
It is a requirement that will be incorporated into vending machines and stores as the current contracts are fulfilled and new public tenders are published.

Sounds kinda like manana!

The Relay shop in Terminal A have Evian at €2.90 and half litre bottles of Font Vella at €1.60. Still a rip-off but not quite so extreme.
