Air traffic controllers call June strike across Spain
Published: 27 May 2015
Spanish air traffic controllers have announced four days of strikes in June, threatening travel chaos during peak season for tourists visiting Spain.
A Spanish air traffic controllers union has called four days of strikes on June 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th in protest against the punishment doled out to 61 air traffic controllers after a 2010 strike.
La Unión Sindical de Controladores Aéreos (USCA) has called partial strikes which will be held for two hours on the morning and two on the evening, between 10am and 12pm and 6pm and 8pm, the union announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

We fly back on 10th so it'll affect us. I wonder if Thomson will still drop us off at the airport at the time specified or let us stay at the hotel longer?

If it happens and it is a big if, we all know that these strikes are cancelled more often than not so i wouldn't panic just yet .

Government orders minimum services for air traffic controller strike

Government orders minimum services for air traffic controller strike
04 June 2015
THE Public Works and Development Ministry has ordered a minimum service of 70 per cent during strikes called by air traffic controllers in Spain this month.
Enaire controllers will be striking between 10am and noon and 6pm and 8pm on June 8, 10, 12 and 14...

I read that as that service has to be provided during the strike hours.
Fingers crossed...

We fly out at 9.30am on the Ryan air flight out of Leeds. Typical I am bringing 2 friends. One of them for the first time. Please can people keep us updated if they hear anything. No idea what Ryan air will do. Probably just cancel the flight to ensure the rest of their schedule stays on track ....... Not good !!

In laws just back this afternoon PMI to DUB with slight delay due to an operational issue at PMI (not strike related)
Aer Lingus and Ryanair according to their disruption information didn't anticipate any delays for today.
Haven't picked up anything during the day in the media myself.

Does anyone have any further updates on the strikes? We have friends flying back tomorrow and we're flying back next Tuesday.

Air traffic control strike continues for second day - The Local

Air traffic control strike continues for second day
Spain's air traffic controllers have complained that the minimum service demanded by the government "violates" their fundamental right to strike.
...
The minimum service has so far guaranteed minimal disruption to the flights during strikes scheduled for the start of the busy summer holiday season.
The guarantee to provide a minimum service of 70 percent was negotiated between the government and ENAIRE, the publically owned air traffic control company but does not have support from the controllers themselves.
...
The union said that its compliance with the minimum service stipulation was an act of goodwill and showed the willingness to negotiate towards a satisfactory outcome. But the union also said it would appeal the decision to set minimum services.
The first day of strikes on Monday saw virtually no delays to any flights at airports across Spain as a direct result of the strikes.
Airlines expressed expectation that there would be minimal disruption over the further stoppages called for Wednesday, Friday and Sunday during the hours of 10am-12pm and 6pm -8pm.
"There were no delays on Monday (due to the air traffic controller strike)," confirmed a Ryanair spokesman to The Local. "Our flights operated as normal."
"Our operations to/from Spain continue to run as normal," a spokesman from Ryanair told The Local. "Customers travelling to/from Spain should check the status of their flight on the Ryanair website before travelling."
AENA, Spain’s airports operator continued to warn travellers that delays could occur and to check the status of their flight with the airline.
On Monday’s Spain’s government warned that up to 5,300 flights could be affected by the strike action this week.

OK. Now I'm really confused.
Daily Mail website says Palma airport was like a refugee camp yesterday and 7000 Brits had to sleep there overnight.
Mallorca Daily Bulletin has nothing about it.
Who's right? My mates flew back a day early because of the scaremongering. Is there disruption at the airport or isn't there? Anyone know?
