Smile October Half Term 2015

For those watching the pennies, I was caught out this year by booking the outward Gatwick to Palma flight before the return flights were released. I was horrified when Easyjet released their winter flights, with the cost of the return leg. With Monarch flights being more expensive than last year, I began to explore other options. I looked at returning into Heathrow with Iberia via Madrid (at one stage these flights were £41 per person).
In the end I have gone for Ryanair (Palma - Madrid) and then Easyjet (Madrid - Gatwick) - In total it worked out to less than £60 each. It is a lot less than the £135 per person that Easyjet wanted for Palma - Gatwick on winter flight release day. It might help someone else looking for flights for the October half term. Going via Barcelona is also another possible option, but we went with Madrid, as the timings were slightly better.

Have often looked at options like this although we are in Scotland so would probably work out much the same. One of the negatives though would be if you were travelling with hold luggage (as I always do....is there another way) then you would have two lots of luggage each to pay for. This would surely eat into what you would be saving

Ryanair loaded up extra flights back from Palma for Fri to Sunday end of Oct half term last night. The prices are not yet available but times are. There are extra flights to Stansted and Birminghm. New return flights to Bristol and Bournemouth also loaded. whilst i hope these new flights are cheap, if they are people may be a bit miffed that they have paid over the odds already! There must be a huge demand for that weekend!
