Default Baggage handlers to strike in Palma.

Baggage handlers have called a series of strikes next month. This from the UH here :- La huelga en el servicio de equipajes en agosto afectará a más de un millón de pasajeros » Local » Noticias » Ultima Hora Mallorca. Translated by Google.

Quote:
The strike at the baggage service in August will affect more than one million passengers.

The representatives of the works council UTE dealership Service Care and Treatment of Luggage (SATE) in Son Sant Joan, EFS-EMTE, announced yesterday that the strike called for days 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 , 15, 16 and 17 August, "is by default of the company not to meet the labor demands that were agreed in April this year TAMIB."

The strike, which took place on three weekends busiest year in the airport and focus between 12 and 14 hours for the morning shift, and between 18 and 20 hours to the afternoon shift. The total number of passengers may be affected by this conflict will exceed one million.

"We denounce the concessionaire fails all wage agreements, lack of staff and working hours, while a lack of communication and lack of interest in resolving the conflict," pointed committee representatives yesterday in a press conference offered at the airport.

The council also points out that the new contract "has not respected the subrogation of all workers in this service, it is currently about 45 (five of them temporary), when in reality it would take ten workers. The strike, to our regret, cause flight delays and the luggage handling service. To try to overcome this situation and resolve, we will ask for a meeting with the director of the airport and esplicarle what happens with EFS to control the subject. "

AENA Palma

From AENA Palma, on the conflict of SATE, reported that "we hope that the company and employees to agree. As an essential service for the operation of the airport, the minimum services shall be established. "

AENA yesterday would not enter into any controversy over the dealership and maintenance of the SATE system.

Glass half full? Mine's pretty empty after reading that.

Arriving on 9th, right in the strike zone.

Heaven knows they're slow enough when working normally! Let's hope there's some settlement beforehand......it's happened before. Fingers crossed,

Really? I have got to say that my experiences of PMI have always been good.

Considering just how busy they can be, particularly on summer Saturdays, all credit to them, very rarely have I had to wait long for hold luggage. It is normally just starting to hit the belt just as I get there.

Either way, hope that this gets sorted out to everyones satisfaction sooner rather than later.

Can't see Mrs T lasting a 2 week holiday with a bit of hand luggage. Her shoes would fill that.

Sparky does replicate important information if it fits more than one classification.

Maybe a link to duplicate posts would assist forumites keep up with additional informative posts?
