Love birds in March

My son and his girlfriend are having a 4 day break late in March, no weekends included. Driving is not an issue as my son has been visiting the island since he was a baby. Cash however, is limited!
Any ideas for an interesting 4 days plan to help him show off the local area, and be a little romantic at the same time please. ;)

Could try the Caves only a short drive and the cafe outside offers wonderful Views to sit and hold hands having coffee. Also menu of the day at Golf club not expensive and again wonderful and romantic views over the bay. :)

I have Caves of Drach on the list, as this is the first time the girlfriend has visited Mallorca, so tourist sites still of interest for her. Golf club is a good idea though, thanks.

Was actually thinking of the Caves closer to PP they are the
Campanet Caves only a short drive and well worth the visit and the cafe outside has great views

I agree, and did assume that was where you mean fil, I meant to say that as they already have one lot of caves in mind, perhaps just for a 4 day visit, two lots may be pushing it! Mind you, the coffee terrace is a lovely place just to pop into anyway so I will put that down! ;)

How about a drive upto the Lamb restaurant at Alaro, worth the experience, closed Mondays.

The train to soller is a good one and if the Boats are running to formentor. Think we filled up the 4 days LOL

clinkham 22-02-2012 14:29

I'm taking Mrs Clinkham to PP for a 4 day break in mid April. I'm making notes of where to go, what to do - particularly the romantic bits:eek::D;)

Belladonna 22-02-2012 14:47

Alaro is a good option, with the continued walk up to the church afterwards if the weather is good. Not sure if the drive up to Alaro can be called romantic though. I remember being scared out of my wits!

Although I thought about Soller, I am concerned with the timings of trains. Perhaps excursions that dont need too much time planning may be better, although saying that, you have to be at Alaro for 1pm dont you!

Dont stop yet fil, more ideas required please! ;)

fil6699 22-02-2012 14:58

LOL Bella They are a young couple am sure they have lots of ideas. Is Mum trying to keep them busy :) :) :) LOL . If they like to walk the walk to Cala is not to hard and The view over the Bay at Cala with the beautiful water is always guaranteed to impress and costs nothing. Shame its not later in the year I would have taken them out on the Boat ( Note to self start Love cruises lol)

Belladonna 22-02-2012 15:33

 No comment! ;) No, they really do want to explore interesting places. Think I have the restaurants covered - easy bit really - its the days that need a bit of planning with not too much driving involved, but if there is, then it would be good to try and avoid the motorway too much - especially cameras under the bridges!

You're never too late in life for romance, so will look for your billboard for Love Cruises in the summer!

No need to be at Alaro for one. They serve until 7pm I believe we usually get there between 1-2 and have been later depending on what we have done first. I always do the walk first then relax and eat, not sure I'd make it after lunch !!

Can I suggest a drive up to Lluch, continue down La Calobra and coffee with spectacular sea view , romantic walk through the tunnels to Torrent de Parais followed by a pre-prepared picnic with a light rose wine on the beach at Cala Tuent. We had the most fantastic day together doing just that about 3 weeks ago and its such a joy when there are not many coachloads of tourists to share the experience with. Cost is just the price of a few ready prepared bocadillos, crisps, wine bought at local supermarket or bakers, coffees, petrol. Truly enjoyable, breathtaking scenery and very relaxing. Let us all know where they went and how they got on.

You're so right Jan. To do things when the tourists are not around gives far more freedom, and takes half the time too. Its great to get opinions of people who have actually done trips and excursions at this time of year too. Adding these all to the list I have previously made - many thanks for the ideas! :)
