Palma
Hey all,
Have finally booked my week in Pollensa for the 1st week of September only this year we are planning to stop in Palma for a couple of nights en route. Having not been there properly since I was little I would very much appreciate any suggestions of places to go and things to see... obv the cathedral is a must but would love some more hints and tips ...
Thanks guys ...

Castell de Bellver / Ensaimadas
We also stayed a couple of nights in Palma a few years ago before continuing to PP and found the Castell de Bellver well worth a visit. The castle itself and the views are magnificent.

Also enjoyed having fresh ensaimadas in the old cafes in Palma.

We found the City sightseeing tour bus a great way to get to see the sights. Also, if you click on the link below and follow their sites, it will give you a low down on the main places of interest in Palma, which can help you decide which ones you would like to see independently. Totally agree on the Castle!

Also if anyone knows if it is easy enough to get a bus up to the Port from Palma after our stay and if the nearest stop is the taxi rank for the habitat?
Many thanks much appreciated!!

Mrs Clinkham says the culture bits are important, but the shoe shops are more so.

Hotel Born
Oh, for a super hotel check out Hotel Born - Palma de Mallorca
Just up the side of C&A at the top of Paeso de Born. Within walking distance of most places of interest, including the bus terminus for PP.
This is not your modern ticky tacky room hotel. It has atmosphere. Make sure your luggage has wheels - you have to walk the last few metres from the taxi

Hi Rachel
It is very easy to get a bus to PP, they run approx every hour from the main bus station in Placa Espania, it's the Transunion service.
There is a bus stop right outside the Habitat.

The PP bus is in bay no. 5 in the bus station and it stops outside the Habitat. Last bus is 8.30 in the evening.
I did it twice this summer, had a few days in PP by myself and had a day in Palma which was fab. Then was joined by other half for a couple of weeks and went down again. Bus is so cheap too. E5.75 one way.
Enjoy

Is the city sightseeing tour bus a "hop on, hop off" style of tour?
Also we will have a car but although I have driven a lot around the island I have never driven into Palma as it always looks rather complicated and busy.
I think it may be less stressful to get the bus from PP to Palma rather than drive and find parking etc. What are the bus times to/from PP and Palma, and how long is the journey?
Should I attempt the driving route, getting to the outskirts Palma is very straightforward, but
can someone recommend the best route into the city and possbly the best place to park up for the day while we do the tour etc.
Many thanks,
Gee.

HI, yes, bus is hop on and hop off style, I will try and find a link again for you. Meanwhile, a basic time table is available on the forum; I have given the link for you below.
Transport in Puerto Pollensa, Majorca - taxis, bus, trains, airport transfers
As for driving into Palma and parking etc. Down motorway heading towards airport, watch for Port sign (big yellow sign with ship on it - Junction 3 on via circular) Park in the cathedral car park, exit opposite the lake/cathedral, tourbus pick up is on main road at end of lake.
Just found the link;
