Default Recommend requested for a Restaurant other than in PP/Old Town/Alcudia

We usually have a trip out by car for lunch on one of the days during our week.
In the past few years we have been a couple of times to the Lamb restaurant Es Verger at Alaro,Restaurant Es Guix near Luc and Restaurant Es Turo in Fornalutx all of which we enjoyed.
Can anyone recommend anywhere different for our holiday in early October.
We have a wide range of tastes and prefer to sample local food whilst on holiday.

I have heard a lot of good things about Mirador La Victoria, it's on the other side of the bay and a bit of a hairy drive.

What about going to Colonia de sant Pere, not many tourists get down there, very Spanish feel, lots of small restaurants on the beach and in the town, have eaten there a few times, its worth a trip just for the views and the back drop of mountains.

Thanks Sparky - I will take a look - the hairy drive doesn't bother me - I have driven to the Lamb Restaurant twice with no probs.
Thanks SWS - I will also take a look at that as we have never been to Colonia de sant Pere.

Kezz - the drive is now fine - compared to Alaro its a doddle! Seriously, as long as the driver isnt too distracted by the views there is no problem. Not like the old days when there was no tarmac or cats eyes or even fences!! Now THAT was a drive! Get there by 7 though to make full use of the sunset.

Well worth a drive on a sunny day to the lovely cala at Portals Vells. Unbelievably only about 5 miles from Magalluf! Fabulous beach restaurant serving fresh sea food and paella. All the big boys sail into the bay for lunch so its a great place to people watch too If you've got the energy after lunch the sea is perfect for snorkelling.

Bliss!

Thanks Belladonna for the further info on the drive to Mirador de la Victoria and to Debz1 for the info on the cala at Portal Vells
Many thanks to all who have posted - I have assembled info on the several options and we will make a decision when we are over there

One further option and a bit closer to home is la Terazza at Aucanada, large menu, very Spanish and overlooks bay of Alcudia.

Got back yesterday from our week near the Old Town - The weather was exceptionally good.
We opted for Mirador de la Victoria for our trip out.
We were delighted with the setting and the food.
We chose from the Mallorquian menu and not being particular fans of desserts had starters and mains - My wife had the onion soup and I had the chipirones - For mains my wife had the shoulder of lamb which was very good and I had fish Majorcan style which was a pleasant change from a standard fish dish.
The drive during daylight was certainly " stimulating " and I can appreciate that at night time it would not be for the fainthearted and in the days before the improvements mentioned by Belladonna above must have been hair-raising.
Thanks for all the recommendations.
Salud,

Glad you enjoyed yourselves, and especially La Victoria. Hope you stayed on to see the fishing boats twinkle their way back into port and the lighthouse start up. Problem with summer light though is it gets darker so much later!!
I remember taking our boys up there years ago and they ordered the whiskey tarte, the waiter left the whiskey bottle on the table for them to put their own amount on! The men in our family do like their whiskey - enough said!

Hi Belladonna,
Missed out on "the fishing boats twinkling their way back into port and the lighthouse starting up " because we left at around 4pm and it stayed light until well after 7.pm - Perhaps next year.
It was well worth the trip for the "entertaining" drive , the wonderful view and the enjoyable food - Pity the driver could only have a token drink!
Salud
