Smile Day in Palma

Good morning - this is my first time using your forum and hope you will be able to help.

My family of 9 ( three children 8, 7 & 5 ) will be spending a day in Palma on 16 July before returning to UK and leaving car at airport taking (I think No 1 bus) to Palma. I'd like some suggestions and advice for them - places to visit , value for money, eating places, timings for airport to Palma etc. I know PP quite well but not Palma - except for the airport and traffic ! They will be leaving PP about 9 am and need to return hire car by 4.30 pm. Thanks for any info, help and advice you may give T,s:

My only suggestion is to be sure that your luggage is not visible in the car whilst you leave it best part of the day in Palma. There is lots and lots to do in Palma - gentle walk along the sea front, infront of the Marina and Cathedral. Or drive up to Bellver Castle - the only round castle in all of Spain and great views back down over Palma Bay. or maybe the children would prefer a day out in Palma Aquarium which is very close to the airport and maybe more relaxing that spending a hot summer day in the City.

Smile Day In Palma

With kids of that age, I would go to the aquarium too.
You can eat there quite resonably.

Cheers!

Fullly endorse the visit to the Aquarium, but please do not leave luggage accessible in the car, it really is asking for trouble. Unfortunately you cannot leave luggage at the airport any more before check in either. But if you can get it sorted out, another option is the tourist bus, but check timings back to the cathedral for the onward drive to the airport.
My family and friends had this query for last week, but opted instead to stay local - leaving the luggage at the apartment - and make the most of the last day without the Palma hassle. Palma is best done when you are not clock watching too much!

Hi tibbles, this site does not allow direct links to companies that do not advertise with us but if you want somewhere to leave luggage securely you can Google a company called Palma Lock and Go. Their rates look quite reasonable.

Yep, the aquarium was a hit with us too. It cost us about 10 euros from the bus station, then 20 euros each admittance, but well worth it. Dont forget the cathedral too.

thank you all for the useful information about a day out in Palma - may decide to just mess about on the beach and chill out before the nerve racking flight etc - not a happy flying family but worth it to be in P Pollenca ! The luggage security is something we hadn't really considered before but will look into the left luggage possibility - and maybe clock watching in Palma ls another reason for staying in PP. Looking forward to being there again soon . Thanks again Tibbles Hasta luego P P

why don't you go to palma on a day during your holiday, it's only about 10 euros return on the bus, go to Portixol, pretty little harbour, go to joan de aigo choolateriea, over 300 nyears old, the sales started yesterday massive reductions on quality goods especially leather. More art galleries and museums per square metre than anywhere else in spain, and mosly free.Go to millionaires marina see how the crisis hasn't affected some people, go to bellver castle, the only totally round castle in europe. go to the cathedral...the list is endlessPalma aquarium is good but not actually in Palma itself

Tibbles, if you do decide to spend your last day in PP, Multihire (in centre of town) offer both left luggage and shower facilities. They advertise on this site but I don't know how to post the link!! I've used them to hire baby equipment and I found them very friendly and helpful.
