Default suitable places to take granny

recently discovered your excellent site. i'm coming to Puerto Pollensa (staying just near the Pine Walk) next week with my mum who is in her 80's. she's pretty active if rather slow, isn't too keen on steep slopes or rough ground and likes a regular sit down. i'd really appreciate any tips on places to take her - we'll have a hire car for 3 days. in particular, i'd really like to explore Pollensa - would we need a taxi to avoid parking problems and could a taxi takes us right into the town?
thanks

Default re suitable places to take granny

Hi Eileen,
you have picked a great place as the Port is nice and flat so you can walk anywhere without much effort.
You can get a taxi from the main roundabout to take you to Pollenca as parking in the streets can be a bit tight sometimes, although there is an undergraound car park on the edge of town. You can also pick up a bus.

have a great time and let us know how you get on

Default Places to Take Granny.

Here's a couple of ideas.
Why not take Granny right to the top of the Calvary Steps in Pollensa? Amazing views to Puerto Pollensa and Formentor.
Before you say anything....you don't have to walk up the steps! You can drive up! There is an 18th century hermitage at the top, and enough room to park.
To find the road up to the Hermitage, come from the Port, over the roundabout at Pollensa, as if you were going to Lluc, and enter Pollensa by turning left off this road. Wind your way through the streets heading upwards!

Another idea. What about a visit to the Toy Museum in Sa Pobla? We have taken young and older visitors there, and they all seem to really enjoy it. The Toy museum is located above The Museum of Contemporary Art on C/Antonio Maura. Open Tues-Thurs 10.00 - 14.00 and 16.00 - 20.00. Sun. 10.00 - 14.00 No need to take the stairs. There is a lift.
To find the museum. Go to Sa Pobla. Turn right along the new road. Go to the end. Turn left into the town. (Signs for the museum start here). Go past the Renault agent and the museum is further along on the right. You can usually park very near.

I hope these ideas are useful. Have a great holiday.

Howard
