Default Formentor Hotel

If you fancy being looked after and giving the beach a miss you can go to the Formentor Hotel, pay 20 euros per person, and have the use of their large pool and childrens pool, putting courses, table tennis etc. Very comfy sun loungers with supplied towels (always useful on the last day when you want to get your own clean for the return!), terrace bar with a very comprehensive cocktail menu and sandwiches... I believe a formal restaurant but we didn't try that, you can set your 20 euros against what you spend in the hotel, which can include the buffet lunch at the Platja Mar Restaurant on the beach, which is something to behold, Gazpache, hot and cold seafood and fish, paella, salads, kebabs, a chef on standby to cook your fillet steak or langoustines to your taste, fruit yogurts etc.
Beautiful gardens and a peaceful setting, we went twice, recommended.

Hi Penny,

did you have to book this? How did you find out about it as it sounds a great idea - especially if you don't have a pool.

I wanted to see the hotel having read about it and we went up for a drink one evening and asked in reception (at other destinations we have made use of pools at hotels for the day when we want a change of scene or a bit of 'wrap round'). The second time we went we just turned up.
They issue you with a receipt for your 20 euros per head at reception, which the swimming pool guy wants to see before handing out the cushiony bit of the sunlounger and towel, and you give it to the cashier at the Platja de Mar to be taken off your lunch bill.
I don't know if they would want to control numbers when things are very busy, it might be as well to ask in advance.

We once asked about using the pool at Son Brul if we stayed for lunch but they said it was imposible. How did you manage it?
