Default Daytrip to Valldemosa and Deia

Going to PP next Saturday and would like to visit Valldemosa and Deia without having to hire a car - went to Valldemosa a few years ago but unfortunately had to drive through Deia as it was impossible to park so thought an organised trip would be better, can anyone recommend anywhere in PP that does daytrips?

You could take the bus to Pto Soller which stops there on the way - see www.puertopollensa.com/transport-taxis-bus-trains.html#buses but you may need to get a taxi between the towns.

Default Day Trip to Valdemossa and Deia

During various visits over recent years we had wanted to see these two places and also Soller and Puerto Soller, by means of public transport.

However , it had always seemed that to do a train trip to Soller and it's port would not quite tie in comfortably with the PP to Palma bus trip.

Being in Palma last week, we looked at the train timetables and drew the same conclusion. Instead, from the Palma bus station sited behind the train stations, we took a bus to Puerto Soller, which drops in to Soller and goes through the new toll tunnel, 3k long and impressive, if you like that sort of thing.

Puerto Soller we found mainly to be closed up for the winter, the larger hotels and restaurants specially so. Weather was a bit cloudy but the sun came out and the day was warm. Needless to say we found a little harbourside restaurant with a Menu del Dia with a choice of three soups. It must be the winter!! And the sardines on and a first for us, for dessert, the plate with four oranges complete with stalks. And fabulous they were too.

Of course there was the bread, olives and the wine!!!

Now why post this in Vald/Deia?

As we went back to the bus station there were two buses leaving at the same time. The Palma Express, direct to the city via Soller and another to Palma but via Deia and Valdemossa. And the driver of the latter extolling his route as much more beautiful and scenic, si senor! Muy bien!

So we took it, a little more for the single fare. Some more came on the bus at Soller and seated at the front the driver gave a guided tour to them in Spanish, while he waltzed the bus round the many hairpin and hair-raising bends, and in to Deia and on to Valdemossa. We did not get off in either, as the late afternoon buses at this time of year are few and far between to permit a proper time to see around. Nevertheless we got a taste and would go back to Valdemossa from Palma sometime.

In conclusion , much preferred PP to Puerto Soller.

No comparison!
