We hired a car during our recent visit to PP and spent one day just following signposts to nowhere in particular - we found ourselves in Arta at luchtime and had a fantastic Menu del Dia at the small hotel San Salvadore. The hotel looked like it was an old Mallorquin country house and the dining tables were set outside in what looked like the old entrance 'porch' now covered with a huge parasol to provide shade. The dining area overlooked a very pretty garden with a small swimming pool (a smaller version of Balaixa perhaps) and a shady pergola where you could just have a drink or your after lunch coffee. The food was fab. We had cream of fish soup, chicken supreme with lemon rissotto and semolina with fresh fruit sauce - forget school dinners this semolina was more like a mousse and was to die for. All the food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Drinks were extra but the MDD was 11E. Not a place for children but worth a look if you're ever in Arta. Ladies - make sure you visit the loos, they're great.

The inside restaurant hosts some interesting sounding musical evenings but you would need deeper pockets to eat at night - the full evening menu was seven courses with recommended wine with each course which was 145E but you could forget the wines and order fewer courses. I think the cheapest option was about 65E.

Hi Easylife!

Long time since we had a chat.

Great post, always good to hear someone turning up something new and on a day out too.

Wondered what was coming about the semolina!:lol

Your discovery of such an enjoyable MDD reflects your screen name, can just envisage sitting there enjoying that lunch.

However, your name changes to Hardlife, when you refer to the evening meal of seven courses!:eek and the prices, naturelment!!:lol

Joking , of course!
