Default Dog Walk in aid of Victoria's Pro-Animals.

I found this in the Daily Buletin :-

SATURDAY 18 FEBRUARY
4th Dog Walk Event. In aid of Victoria’s Pro-Animales at 10.30am. Beginning at Frankies Bar, next to Victorias shop and opposite Lidl supermarket. Route along the beach to the “English Bridge” near Albufera and back. Takes 2 to 3 hours. Sponsor forms will be available from Saturday 28 January and can be collected from Victoria’s shop near Magic roundabout (close to Burger King) and Little Britain in Alcudia or from the British Food Shop in Puerto Pollensa. Also you can send an email to dogwalk2012@gmail.com and form will be sent to you. Refreshment will be provided for both humans and cainines at the halfway stage.

They do a fantastic job trying to raise money for Victorias'.

Its a shame us non-resident, non dog owners cant take part!

Could they not set up sponsorship over the internet via a site like "just giving"

I am sure they would generate a good response from Forum members.

Good Luck

Your quite right Lyn, Bev "borrowed" a dog for the walk 2 years ago and she has been with us ever since. They do a fantastic job, we have a collection tin in the bar if anybody wanted to make a donation

Thats true if you are here on the Island you can borrow a dog for the day just to join the walk, no need to keep him for 2 years. Anyone who thinks they could give a dog a home should seriously consider giving one of the hundreds and hundreds of homeless dogs on the Island a home. Last week I went to Son Reus in Palma and it is a very upsetting experience as they destroy the dogs if they are not reclaimed or adopted after a certain time. They have a fantastic choice of dogs as does Victoria, Josefina and a lovely lady in Inca who rescues German Shepherds. There is a fab very large male german shepherd in need of a home at present, he is 18months old. I got one last week and can highly recommend the experience.

A few months ago a story did the rounds of the local expat community which said that `Victoria´herself was no longer involved in the charity and as a result it was no longer a rescue organisation and now only provides food at various locations for the strays. If anyone can throw any light on whether or not there is any truth in this then I would be very pleased to put the record straight.

Absolute tosh I was at the refuge 3 weeks ago and saw Victoria she lives there has 11 dogs of her own that she has taken in and visits the refuge in Palma every week to save dogs on "death row" why people start these rumours is beyond me
