JANUARY

•Christmas and Three Kings Fair in Palma with markets at the Plaza Major, Ramblas, Via Roma, Plaza de la Porta Pintada and Plaza España. Opens from 10am to 9pm Monday to Sunday. Runs until 6 January 2015.

•24TH Playa de Palma Cyclist Challenge in Majorca. Playa de Palma Trophy, 168 kms. Gathering from 9am to 9.40am at Calle Miquel Pellisa. Ribbon cutting 9.55am and starting at 10am. Route: Calle Miquel Pellisa, turn left on Calle de las Maravillas, roundabout straight direction Es Pilari, on crossroad turn right and then left on PMV-6011 S'Aranjassa and crossroad turn right. Be advised of road clousure during this event.


•Trotting races. At the Manacor Hippodrome with the first race starting at 3.30pm. The hippodrome is located at Ctra Palma - Arta Km 48. Tel 971 550 023. Free entrance.


•Sant Ignasi fiesta in Son Servera. At 11am solemn mass at Sant Joan church. At 11.45am flower offering at the "shepard" sculpture. At 12am institutional ceremony and prizes.


MONDAY 2 FEBRUARY

•Solar Visual Show. With winter solstice at 8am for a brief moment light will shine through the 1,236 panels at Palma's Cathedral and illuminating the interior of the nave. Free of charge. (Every year on 11 November and 2 February which coincide with the festivities of Candelaria and San Martin)


TUESDAY 3 FEBRURY

•Organ concert. At 12pm at Palma's Cathedral by organist Bartomeu Veny.


•Classical music concert. At 7pm with the Matti Wallen (Finland) and accompanied by pianist Alfredo Oyagüez at Superior Music and Dance Conservatory (C. Alfons de Magnanim, 64) in Palma. Info 971 498 935. Tickets 3 euros. Works by Scandinavian composers, gospel music and Broadway musicals to be performed.


WEDNESDAY 4 FEBRUARY

•Sa Rua in Marratxi. At 5pm carnival celebration with the traditional parade starting from Portol, passing through sa Cabaneta until church square of Sant Marçal. End of festivities with hot chocolate and prize ceremony.


◦Football match at home. Between Real Mallorca and CD Leganes at 5pm at Son Moix Iberostar Stadium (Cami dels Reis, s/n) in Palma by the Poligono Can Valero. Tickets start at 15euros.



THURSDAY 12 FEBRUARY

•Opera season 2014-2015. At 8.30pm transmission from the Salzburg Festival with "Otello's" Verdi conducted by Riccardo Muti, director Stephen Langridge and starring Aleksanders Antonenko, Marina Poplavskyaya and Carlos Alvarez at Ocimax Theatre in Palma. Ticktes at the box office.


•Europeos Por España Annual Meeting. At 7pm at Mood Beach in Costa D'en Blanes. Its free and open to the public. They will be presenting their new website.

•Music. At 7.30pm "Dels Enamorats" by the Municipal Band of Music with soloist on trumpet Julio Beltrán and director Salvador Sebastià at Superior Music and Dance Conservatory (C. •One Billion Rising. Demonstration and campaign to raise awareness for the continuing issue of violence against women. At 11.30am at Plaza Cort. Walking, dancing and running, march to the Parc de la Mar. Zumba event to follow at the Parc de la Mar.


•Concert. At 8pm with Majorcan music of Bisbe Campins conducted by Joan Company at Palma's Cathedral. Free of charge.


SUNDAY 15 FEBRUARY

•Sa Rua in Palma. At the end of the parade Carnival Party and prize ceremony at the Plaza Carles I. Be advised of road closures.


•Classic Car Exhibition. Meeting at 9am at Son Moix Sports Centre. From there depart for the car parade towards Paseo Maritimo and at 12pm arriving at the meeting point in Jaime III where the cars will be displayed for the general public until 2pm.


THURSDAY 19 FEBRUARY

•26th Concert Season 2014-2015. At 8pm with the Balearic Symphony Orchestra and conductor and piano soloist Ivan Martin at Palma's Auditorium on the Paseo Maritimo. Departure and arrival at the Camí de s'Escollera in front of Palma's Cathedral. Circuit: Paseo Maritimo, Paseo Sagrera, Autovía Levante and centre of Palma. Be advised of road closures. Register at El Corte Ingles or Elitechip - Elitechip Bienvenido! until Thursday 19 March. Price 23 euros for ½ marathon and 15 euros for 10kms until Saturday 28 February after price is 25 euros. 12th Music Festival Miquel Tortell 2014-15. At 8.30pm "A evening at the movies" interpreted by Pro Musica Chorus of Soller, pianist from the Professional Conservatory of the Balearic Islands, soloists, professor and graduate of song with artistic and musical director Pep Alarcón at the Convent church in Muro.

Music. At 9pm with "Symphonic of Abba" at Palma's Auditorium Sala Magna on the Paseo Maritimo. Tickets at the box office. On Sunday 26 April at 9pm.
