Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows if the new Casino has opened up in the Porto Pi Shopping centre in Palma?

I heard some time ago that it was relocating from the "Casino de Mallorca" in Calvia, but can't see anything about the opening which was supposed to be back in Feb

You're right, it was meant to have opened in late Feb or March, but that was then put back three months, i.e. to now. As far as I'm aware, though, it still hasn't happened.

Thanks Andrew - do you know if Casino de Mallorca is still being used in the meantime? We'll be arriving this coming Monday and will be looking at heading in to Palma at some stage.

Pretty sure its the same building as the show Come Fly With Me is on. I wonder if they are doing away with the casino (cant see it myself as its a nice little earner!) and making a restaurant there. Now that would bring in a few more visitors from the North of the island!;)

It is the same place, Bella. There is a restaurant there; meant to be pretty good and pretty expensive. Not sure what they'll do with the whole place once the casino moves; maybe expand the shows' side of things. To answer the question, Gaz, the casino has poker tournaments being advertised for the whole of June, so it is still operating for now.

Really!? I can't find it on any of the sites and would desperately like to take my mum and dad there in September, but the lack of a restaurant has put me off. Can you find a link anywhere or any information on it please? Thanks so much!

If you go on to the site there is an offer of a free entry voucher to print. And it looks like you can dine without using the casino.

Thanks for pointing that out cheryl. Followed it through and it looks just like a ticket to the casino. I cant seem to find anything about the restaurant though. I'm probably missing something obvious. Have also looked at the Come Fly With Me site trying to find something about eating, all they offer is Strawberries and champagne! Now thats fine for a nibble, but after a long drive down we need something a bit more substantial. Point me in the right direction please!

I think the voucher gives you free entry on to the premises & then you can use the restaurant. It says it is located in the casino. Why not give them a call? Sure they'll be able to speak english & give you the information you need.
There is a menu for the restaurant & the set menu etc. under gastronomia, then Menu Azar.

May try and find an email address rather than try phoning from the UK. But a good point, thanks Cheryl.

Not sure of an email address for the restaurant, but you might try restaurante@casinodemallorca.com, and see if it works. There is an email address for comercial@ but this is for functions. There are different menus, one for a mere 14 euros for three courses, and the a la carte with an average of 20 euros for a main dish, so not too bad. But don't know what they do exactly at the moment. If all else fails, a phone call possibly might be easiest.

Diario de Mallorca's website reports today that the Casino will move next month. The exact day is to be communicated to the workforce today. There has apparently been an issue regarding parking spaces for staff at Porto Pi.

The new complex will open this Monday the 3rd Oct at 8.30pm, it is spread over more than 3,000 square metres and has 2 bars, a restaurant, a party hall and the casino itself which has card tables, 70 gaming machines and a roulette wheel.

The new casino in Porto Pi that was officially opened on Monday has been prevented from opening its gaming rooms because of a "denuncia" alleging that there has been a falsification of documentation, an accusation denied by the casino's operators.
