Default Sonamar

Hi, did a search on this show and the last post i could find was from 2001. Any updates on the show recently. Am going in July and would love to book a show and this seems reasonable enough if you book online. The kids are cheaper that way.
Has anyone been and would recommend it? or any other show?
Thanks
M

Mattydread,

We sampled SonAmar a few years back, it was superb. we joined a Thomson bus group and paid about 45-50 euros each at the time. Space was a bit cramped but o.k. food was good. The show was spectacular.

You can pay over the odds for upgraded staus etc. it's up to you but we thought 180 euros a bit steep!

regards,

jimbo

HI Jimbo, thanks for that. if we book online, i think the price for the four of us is around 130e. I think we'll give it a go alright.

This show has gone downhill dramatically and the food is dreadful with a capital D. There is no excuse for serving reconstituted potatoes for example, overcooked cheap beef and mushy green beans. A horse on stage, a bit of singing , a juvenile comedy act on a trampoline. Went last week, use your money to go to Pirates adventure

There's also a new show called 'Come Fly With Me' from the people who do Pirates. See www.puertopollensa.com/excursions-majorca.html#entertainment for the shows.

ray,

Thanks for the update. My wife and I were out there last week of May and first week of June and considered the Platinum service but upon reflection decided to spend the money on The Orange Blossem Trail (115 euros and nearly worth it!).

Some memories are worth leaving well alone.

Sorry you had such a bad experience but well done for warning others to come.

regards,

jimbo

Unhappy

Come Fly with me is a great show, particularly if you're into sinatra and the swing age, but it doesn't start til 1015 and lasts one and half hours so as it's down past Magaluf it'a bit of a hike from PP. saw it 2 weeks ago and it's getting good reviews here. There's no meal(sometimes a good thing with Mallorcan shows!) but you get cava and snacks(crisp type things) and free entry to the casino, Unfortunately Son Amar and it's main rival EsFoguero, have actually got worse as the years have gone on. I went to Son Amar about 20odd years ago when they had a proper spit roast etc and of course the location is superb, but seriously I wouldn't pay more than 30 euros for the whole thing. Hope this helps. Jimbo you did well to miss the Platinum meal, a lot of money just to get something edible with the show!!

Matty
Even your kids would find the Medieval show boring, but i am positive you would all love pirates, it's the only show on the island which is buzzing from start to finish.

Just back from our two weeks in PP. what a place! Never fails to impress!
Didn't go the any show in the end, we went for the educational side of things and went to Palma Aquarium instead.
All I can say is Wow!! It is absolutely brilliant, the kids are still talking about it.
we spent hours walking through the place, and will defo make another visit if we're back next year, thats how good it was.
Highly recommended.

As you say, it never fails to impress. They are improving all the time and we have been there 5 times so far with various family members and cant wait to show anyone else!
We attempted to book for the Fly with Me show, but unfortunately after the drive down during the day, we found out it was closed on Mondays! Be advised!!! Its a shame they dont include a meal as it means finding a restaurant before hand that isnt actually full of the younger age group in the area! However, if its still going strong the next time we go we will still try to go.

Thanks for the recommendation for Palma Aquarium - I'll research it via Google before our trip in August.
