Default Can Planes - Sa Pobla

According to various guide books there is a toy museum in Sa Pobla in a building called Can Planes. The kids are keen to see it, especially my son, and we have tried to find it on our last three visits. Usually we end up driving round and round the one way system! Has anybody ever been? Does it exist? And is it worth a visit? Thanks

I haven't been there too, but there's also an antique toy museum in Palma - see this website (with some pictures) -
Museu de sa Jugueta - Agenda Cultural Arts Mallorca

The Museu de sa Jugueta is located in the historic center of Palma in 400 square meters spread over 3 floors. In the second and third are exposed half of the antique toys from the private collection of Ton Boig Clar of over 7,000 pieces ranging from the mid-nineteenth century to the late twentieth and constitute a broad cross-section of all toys from all over the world at different times.

Contemplated can be dolls, ships, doll houses, cars, cardboard horses, cribs, children's theaters, bicycles and tricycles in perfect condition, table toys, footballs, pedal cars, etc. A selection of 3,000 toys on display permanently, although the content of the exhibition will change due to the large number of pieces housed in this private collection, part of which could be seen during some years in the building Can Planas, in Sa Pobla .

This large and nostalgic collection originates from the 50 toys which the owner of the museum bought almost forty years ago from a Catalan toy shop that was closing and wanted to get rid of surplus equipment.

The museum is part of a multifunctional space where on the ground floor there is a hall for temporary exhibitions and a small shop to purchase reproductions of antique toys. It also has a bar and restaurant open from noon.

I have been there! Frequently changing toy exhibition, and good modern art exhibition.

How to find it? Road from Crestatx (Pollensa) into Sa Pobla. After the cemetary, turn right onto the ring-road. Over the next roundabout. At the next roundabout (VW garage) go left into the town. Eventually, the road narrows as you go into the older part of the town. The museum is a large building on your right. Good luck with parking.

Look out for the painting of the butcher. The background is made up of documents (in English) relating to his life and death. The exhibition changes so it may not be on show.

I hope this helps,
San Miguel

We found it, thanks to SM's impeccable directions.
But....the toy museum has been closed for 6 months due to a dispute between the council and the collection's owner. It seems there are contractual issues they can't resolve. The art museum is still open.
Thanks to everyone for their help.
