Default Auriga Crown Ceased Trading

I have just had my Economy Car Hire booking with Auriga Crown for 12/2/12 cancelled and transferrred to Centauro.

When I phoned ECH to ask why, they said Auriga Crown are to cease trading! Anyone know why?
If you are effected by this, do a new quote on ECH as the quote with Centauro was £36 for the week for a Ford Focus but ECH were charging me £49 being the original amount with AC. I got a refund when I pointed this out.

Yes - Auriga Crown were on site and we have used them for the past 2 or 3 years and they were very good really, although we did have a problem with car last October - faulty battery - but they did get someone out to us very quickly - although it could not be repaired and we had to drive to the airport to change cars - and just hope that we did not have to stop or stall on the way there! When we booked through Carjet last week, our first supplier was AC but this was changed within 24 hours to Gold Car and we did wonder why at the time.

Not really happy about the mini bus, we have 3 cases and 4 hand luggage to cart on and off, however, we will give them a go as we are not in a rush, we have a very early flight.

IMO the mini-bus transfer thing is not too much hassle. I remember hating it the first time we did it but I've found there's usually not as much queuing when you get the car and the office/parking set-up is much more spacious?

I'd rather wait a few minutes for a mini-bus and get a better deal. All the drivers load your suitcases anyway and you don't normally have to wait too long.

Not ideal I know but then you get what you pay for.

If you want to avoid queues/mini-buses then book with Sixt or Europcar etc...........but be prepared for a major difference in price !

Centauro were great, better than 'on airport car hire'. The bus was with us as soon as we left the airport, we didnt have to carry any luggage, the paperwork was done quickly and we were even given a choice of car. On return the bus drove up to us and our luggage was loaded straight from the boot into the trailer of the bus! We arrived at the airport on the departures level, my daughter said it was like being a VIP! Well done Centauro.

Default Auriga Crown - risen from the ashes?

I have just flown back from Palma and noticed that the Auriga Crown car hire office was up & running there.
Have they been bought out or something?
