Default Train link to the North

After reading all the horror stories about the exorbitant prices that people are being charged for car hire this year the quicker we get the train link from Palma the better. Unfortunately, car hire company's have somewhat of a monopoly for people that need to get to the north of the island.

IMO more competition is the answer to get back reasonable prices. I for one eagerly await the new link but would be interested to hear other peoples thoughts.

Hi Whaley. I agree with you and think a train link would be great. Of course it would have to run much more frequently than the present Sa Pobla link does. Otherwise it would not be a viable option for tourists coming to the north.

From my understanding the train link, if and when it does happen, will terminate at Alcudia. There was talk of a tram link from the railhead along the coast road to PP, and also to C'an Picafort, but as far as I am aware there are no concrete plans.

Judging by the speed of progress on infrastructure projects, I wouldn't hold your breath.

According to todays DB it's all hit the buffers. The opposing parties cannot decide on the route so it has all ground to a standstill. Ah well!! back to the drawing board.
