Default easyCar

I have read the posting relating to EasyCar on this forum but would like to know a little more if anyone can help!
Are the cars air conditioned and are they big enough for 3 adults for driving around the Island?
I read a comment that it is not that easy to find the depot on return - any helpful clues please, would hate to miss the plane! We would be coming from Puerto pollensa.
How much time should be allowed to return the car and get to the airport?

Hilary

I used EasyCar from Palma to PtoP last week, and did
so at the same time last year.

The cars are all Mercedes A170s. Ours have both had
air-con - I guess that's standard. You can certainly
*carry* 4 adults, but the back seats are not very
roomy. For driving around you'll be fine, but for the
hour it takes to get to PtoP you might be a little bit pushed
for luggage space unless you travel very light. (The
back seat splits 1/3-2/3 and can be folded up so you
can make quite a bit of boot space if you need it.)
If in doubt I suggest you just drop in to your nearest
Merc dealer and nose around their display model! (That's
what I did, but then I'm cheeky like that!)

I didn't have trouble finding the depot - just keep your
wits about you as the shuttle takes you from the airport
to the depot, so that you can follow the same route
back from the motorway - as soon as you reach the first
roundabout by the Hypermarket you can see the bright
orange signs in the distance. Easycar say allow 3 hours
from arrival at the depot to departure time, and who am
I to argue? Early last Friday we left PtoP at 07.30 am and
were waiting in the terminal building for a check-in desk
to open by 09.10 am, including filling up with fuel at
Inca. (There is a BP station on the RHS at the last-but-one
roundabout coming out of Inca, just before joining the
motorway.) But I'd want to allow longer if it was a
busy time for getting the car checked and possibly
waiting for a shuttle to come back from a previous trip.

Down-side about EasyCar is not knowing when the next
shuttle is coming to pick you up from the airport, which
could be as long as 30 mins, and the lack of shade while
waiting - if I did it again I think I might just grab the
next taxi to the depot, which is off-airport.

If you want any more detail, including the route back
from PtoP to the depot, just ask...

Thank you for this full and very detailed reply. I am very grateful and I am sure it will be very useful to other people who visit this board. When I come back from Puerto Pollensa at the end of June I shall try and offer these boards some useful postings as a thank you!

I hired an easyCar Merc last August for two of us, although for most of two weeks we had our friends' 7 year old in the back. Might be a bit cramped for a grown adult to spend more than 30 mins in at a time. Luggage space is small so pack light. I don't know if they do roof racks.

I found it excellent and good value, although I worried about the easyCar logos on the sides - they kind of scream 'I'm a tourist - scratch me'. Didn't the US legislate against car rental companies making their vehicles too obvious after a spate of crime targeted at tourists in Florida?

This August I'm going to use Carjet as I missed the cut off date for easyCar's cheapest rates (409 euros instead of 200 for two weeks). I'll also be able to collect and return the car at the airport.

Thank you for the reply to my posting
We have now had our holiday and although I was reassured by the detailed earlier posting in response to my enquiry about EasyCar we in fact used www.all-inclusive-car-hire.com This is the sister company to Carjet (they are both brokers) and their terms and conditions are identical - the only difference being that All Inclusive do not charge a fee if your plane is delayed and you arrive late at night. This came in handy as we had a nine hour delay courtesy of air traffic and Spanish transport strikes!
A friend used Car Jet and she was as pleased with them as I was with All Inclusive. The big bonus for those who do not know these companies is that you pay nothing until you pick up the car, you get a full tank of petrol (at competitive rate) and return the car on empty. The price you pay is completely inclusive, therefore you do not wait while the car is not checked for damage when it is returned. You would pay only for tyre or windscreen damage if you had to call out a garage - and this is the same with all operators in Majorca.
We had a lovely Ford Focus at quite short notice for £121 for 7 days, which is just about as good as it gets for a car that you pick up on the airport site itself.
