I managed to book a medium sized car from Vanrell for 12 days in August for £440. Its a bit higher now, but still seems to be the best value out there. The nice thing about Vanrell is that you collect you car in the carpark, rather than the potentially endless queues in the terminal for the big name companies.

I only had two people in front of me last week at the Record go office but still took 45 mins due to loads of issues from the people in front!
