Default International Driving Permit

On checking UK.GOV website I was pleased to see that we no longer need an international driving licence for Spain like we did last year.

The government have managed to negotiate some worthwhile benefits for us in Spain, post Brexit. The waiver of International Driving Permit is one, the continued benefit of the EHIC card until expiry, and then the ability to apply for a GHIC card to replace it, another. Peace of mind. Pity we have to pay higher bank charges and Non-resident property taxes though. But hey ho.......we can still enjoy our favourite place.

Donkeys years ago I used to religiously apply (and pay) for and take with me to Majorca an International Driving Permit, and not one car hire company/desk were interested in seeing it. They waved it away and insisted in seeing my old green paper UK Driving License

I hadn’t realised it also applied to residents.
