Default Speed limit to be reduced in Palma

https://www.majorcadailybulletin.com...ion-palma.html

Quote:
The speed limit is being reduced to 30 kilometres an hour in 90% of the streets in Palma from mid-October.

No specific date has been set and there are no details of which roads will be included.

The new speed limit will be applied in 2,600 of the city’s 2,700 streets and only major arteries, such as the Avenidas, Paseo Marítimo, Avenida Argentina and Carrer de Ramón y Cajal will be excluded.

...

An information and awareness campaign will be launched shortly to make sure people are aware of the new speed limits in Palma.

" The speed limit is being reduced to 30 kilometres an hour in 90% of the streets in Palma from mid-October."

Good luck with that..... Lancashire County Council tried this. A blanket 20mph limit on all residential streets and spent circa £10 million on new signage - aka street clutter - but then did not enforce the new limit. I'm not aware of any tickets being issued for exceeding the limit.

The 20mph limit hardly got a mention on my recent speed awareness course.

The enforcement in Palma might be different though, according to what's also mentioned in the MDB article.
You might not get away with a 'speed awareness course'.

They also seem to have paid attention to the street clutter problem in Lancashire

Mayor Hila ...

... stressed that reducing speed increases road safety and said the city won’t be flooded with 30 km an hour signs, but that signs will appear in streets where the speed limit is higher. Three new radars are being bought, making 9 altogether and Mayor Hila says "more will be purchased in the future.”

Driving through London yesterday and noticing more and more 20mph signs appearing. Some roads are wide open and empty and you feel a bit silly driving so slowly.

60 mph on UK motorways soon - what are governments trying to do, drive us back to the horse & cart? Many 'freedoms' being removed under the guise of covid, and no, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but....
