Default Record rip off again !!

For a few years it was their high mileage poor cars, then it was the queues at the airport and now it appears Record are doing everything they can to make extra charges to your credit card.

Used them 3 times recently and every time extras have been charged to the card without my knowledge until the credit card statement came in.

Takes weeks of arguing to get the incorrect fuel surcharged refunded and now they have wacked on a large bill for "paint chips" even though the inspected the car upon return. No e-mail sent about this, they simply charged the credit card.

3 weeks of chasing e-mails and calls and eventually get a "damage report" with no evidence of the damage, just a bill.

They may be offering the supposed lowest rentals, but its fair to say they are doing everything to claw back the money when you come home and their customer service for queries and refunds afterwards is zero.

Simply avoid at all costs - they will cost you so much more than you think !!!

I have not had any experience of hiring a car in PP but as there are usually reports of decent companies I wonder why you would go back to Record not once, but twice having been already been ripped off?!

Put the first one down to one of those things that can happen, only picked up the other 2 at the same time as fuel refunds take weeks to come through

Posting here as a warning to others , that's all

Relatives have recently used Record,on their return they found an extra charge of 340 Euros for damaged paintwork had been taken from their credit card ,they deny any damage to the vehicle ( my uncle is a vicar).
They are having a real battle to even get a response from Record.
Avoid .

It's like most other things in life - you get what you pay for. We got conned by Goldcar last year and we've done the Olympic queuing at the Record desk. Never again. It's better to pay a little more and get decent service and not start or finish your holiday on a bad note. We economise on other things and this pays the extra for the car hire. In the long run using these cut price outfits ends up costing you more!

Default In support of Record

I've got to say, having used Record 3 times this year I've had no problems at all. Rock bottom prices but perfectly good service at the desk with quick refunds of unused fuel. Yes, maybe not quite as much of a refund as might have expected based on the fuel gauge reading on return but OK, especially given my first car hire in May, Golf for 14 days 56 Euros.
Last month I pushed the boat out on a BMW 1 series for 3 weeks at 156 Euros (How is it possible to rent cars at this price I ask?). When I got to the desk they reported that they had no cars! So they gave me a brand new black 3 series BMW for the same price. Can't complain at that and there was no quibble when I opted for the excess on my card rather than their expensive insurance. Petrol refund back on card in 24 hours. Looked a bit like a drug dealers car but I kept my head down when passing the Guardia Civil at the roundabouts.
Have booked Record again for September and have been very happy with their service so far this year.

After 6 months dispute with Record just got a full refund on the credit card for damage they claimed they repaired that now apparently they agree didn't really happen after all.

Got no customer service from Record at all, simply ignoring e-mails and not returning calls, had to get the credit card company "dispute team" to chase them and it still took over 4 months to settle it.

Another loyal customer lost by Record

We have also used Formentor Rent a Car, they were excellent. Wouldn't use anyone else.
