Default Mallorca North - excellent map & walk guide

I've just purchased the guide Mallorca North via the puertopollensa web site (you can find it at the bottom of the Maps page)- Amazon are excellent, books come the next day! This guide consists of a really detailed map of the area round Pollensa including Alcudia. The map is marked with 17 different walks and is accompanied by a little book with descriptions of each walk. As the book states they try to include a bar or cafe stop with each walk which is good.

I do already have a copy of a detailed map of Pollensa (1:25000) but this map appears to have combined the Pollensa, Alcudia & Formentor maps so that you get the whole area on one map.

I too bought this guide via amazon. they were great and yes so quick.
I found the guide to be very useful and we used walk 1 "A Country Stroll into Pollenca. A good few times and would advise anybody thinking of walking/ cycling from The Port to Pollenca town to use this route as it is far safer not to mention quieter and more beautiful a route than the PM-220.
Can i point out a few updates on walk 1. :
1. after you turn into the lane signed to "Cami de Ca'n Toxte at the crossroads the lane you turn right into just after Ca'n Daniel is no longer a "Dirt lane" but has been tarred and has a sign saying private. Like us ignore it and take the now tarred lane as per the guide.
2. just past the 1K marker on the PM220-2 there is now a municipal depot on your left as well!. it is a recycling depot and guess what? dogs can also be heard barking from down that lane also!. Again ignore these new features and take the lane on your right past the "other" municipal depot and the "other" municipal dog pound as per the guide!.
I wrote to Discovery Walking Guides informing them about these information updates. We could see that these new features could confuse anbody not used to this walk. We hope this will be of use to anybody who has bought these guides and intends to walk this beautiful peaceful route to Pollenca.

This Guide book is no longer in print. It has been replaced by an even better guide book

" Walk! Mallorca (North & Mountains)
By Charles Davis
ISBN 1-899554-92-0

And can be bought directly from :

Discovery Walking Guides Ltd,
10 Tennyson Close
Northampton
NN5 7HJ

Or from their website at WWW. walking.demon.co.uk

It covers many types of walks in and around Puerto pollensa/ Pollensa, not to mention my beloved mountians. If your only looking for a easy little walk to explore the countryside or a trek this is the book for you!. It's packed full of information and is by far the best book I've found that covers the area in such detail.
Again if you know of a better guide book let me know, I'll buy it!

Happy hiking.

Rob
