Just back home a good two week stay at Hobby Cub.

I don't wish to moan but...most disappointed that the usual beach facilities were not present. I am not too keen on the plethora of loungers etc. on the beach at Llenaire as I think that too many spoil what is a great area. I am aware that many make use of and enjoy them but think that they are taking over what is a huge local attraction.
Perhaps, if and when, they are installed this year then larger gaps between the blocks could be arranged.

We missed the beach bars Embat and La Roca as did others we spoke to. Both visitors and locals.

Most surprising and difficult to accept was the lack of W.C.facilities. This must be a great "inconvenience" especially for those with young children. Did not effect us as hotel just over the road.

I will revert later with a separate diatribe regarding the Taxi system, organised by the council again I assume, when my typing digit has recovered!

Regards.

I agree....its unbelievable that there are no wc facilities at least. Those responsible should hang their heads in shame. It's pretty obvious where everyone will go when the water warms up!

Looking at YouTube the other day there is an English dame who has plenty to say on the issue of sunbeds, beach bars, toilets and so on.

Try Puerto Pollensa and Sunbedgate in the Search facility if in diffs!

What are the authorities trying to do?

That is Alexandra Smith, from You Tube, and her blog site is "Mallorca Under the Sun". She also has a Facebook page of the same name.

Arrived yesterday. The beaches just look wrong without the sunbeds and lots of sunseekers. Hardly anyone on the beach either.

Looks depressing on the webcam views. Only a few people yesterday in the glorious sunshine.
Apart from the tourists not having any services, sunbeds or loungers, the seafront businesses must be suffering too.

Default Beds and Brollies

For those of you who are determined to get on to the beach, apparently a Facebook group has been set up called, wait for it, "The Puerto Pollensa Sun Chair and Beach Umbrella Exchange Group". You can contact them to get a chair or brolly that someone has purchased who is now going home, and reuse it - saves the resort being rammed at end of August with spare Sunbeds, etc. (Assuming we do not get any more responses to the tenders!) Hope this helps.
I have attached the link below:-

Me, I will probably buy some from the Chinese Supermarket or Multi-Hire if necessary - we will be there for over three weeks this year, so will have to do something.

I think there is a translation that pops up on some phones …it did on mine but not my husband’s for some reason mMy daughter is fluent in Spanish so thought it would be better, and maybe more notice taken if it was written in that language. Not sure what we can do other than sign the petition and send it to those responsible for beach services. What I noticed yesterday on my walk was that there were quite a few cans and plastic bottles amd by the beach entrances a lot of discarded fag ends. We’re all p….ed off that there are no beds, but the fact the beach isn’t being cleaned is going to be a disaster if this situation drags on, especially with school holidays approaching. Also no boardwalks for people with disabilities mean that many won’t be able to go on the beach at all.

My daughter is quite good with petitions. She did one a few years back when the beach at Formentor was left ‘natural’.We think it was the hotel’s ploy to stop the ferry coming over with hoards of holiday makers. The beach in front of the hotel was pristine! There was a huge response and we’re not sure if it was because of her petition, but the beaches were cleaned pretty quickly after it was submitted!

Fingers crossed!

**Restore and Maintain Beach Services in Puerto Pollensa!**

Subject: Urgent Need for Restoration and Maintenance of Beach Services in Puerto Pollensa

Dear Sñra. Marga Prohens and Sñr. Martí March Cerdà,

We, the undersigned residents and visitors of Puerto Pollensa, write to express our deep concern regarding the current state of our beloved beaches. Over recent months, there has been a noticeable decline in the maintenance and availability of essential beach services, which is negatively impacting both the local community and the tourism industry that our town heavily relies on.

Key Issues:

• Lack of Maintenance: The beaches are unclean and unhygienic, tarnishing the natural beauty that Puerto Pollensa is known for.

• Absence of Amenities:

• Raking of the Sand: The lack of raking affects the cleanliness and quality of the beaches.

• Sunbeds and Parasols: Visitors and locals alike have no place to comfortably relax on the beach.

• Toilet Facilities: The absence of these essential facilities is causing significant inconvenience and hygiene issues.

• Boardwalks: The lack of accessible paths makes it difficult for elderly and disabled individuals to enjoy the beach and access the sea.

• Showers: The lack of showers prevents bathers from cleaning themselves after swimming, which is uncomfortable and unhygienic.

• Beach Bars (Chiringuitos): The absence of beach bars removes an essential social aspect of the beach and takes away jobs from the locals.

Impact on Tourism and Community:

Puerto Pollensa has long been cherished as a family-friendly destination, attracting international holidaymakers year after year. The current situation is not only a huge disappointment to new and returning visitors but also poses a significant risk to the local economy, which is heavily dependent on tourism. Furthermore, the local community, including families and individuals who frequent these beaches, are equally affected by these deficiencies.

Our Plea:

We respectfully urge the concerned authorities to take immediate action to reinstate and properly maintain the essential beach services that are crucial for the enjoyment and safety of all beachgoers. This includes:

• Regular cleaning and maintenance (raking) of the sand to maintain the quality of the beaches

• Provision of sunbeds and parasols.

• Installation and upkeep of toilet facilities.

• Installation of showers for the comfort and hygiene of bathers.

• Construction and maintenance of boardwalks to ensure accessibility for everyone.

• Reinstatement of beach bars to support the social and economic aspects of the beach.

Restoring these services will not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also ensure that Puerto Pollensa remains an attractive destination for tourists. Your prompt attention to this matter is vital to preserve the charm and viability of our town.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
