Meanwhile on Alcudia beach -

Definitely different measurements

Quote:
Demand for sun beds and umbrellas in Alcudia has gone through the roof and in some Sectors there’s just not enough to go around, so Alcudia City Council is planning to put out more.

"When we set up the beaches we kept twice the minimum safety distance and only installed 30% of the usual number of umbrellas, but if demand continues to increase we’ll put out more," explains Playas Councillor, Domingo Bonnín.

The sunbeds have just been delivered to Pine Walk beach. They are the brown metal ones so expect hire costs will be similar to the 22 € previously charged.

Not very encouraging, we have been visiting P.P. for many years now and have always been aware that due to the geography the problem regarding sewage has always existed.
As the tidal range in the Med. is minimal it is a lengthy process for the water to circulate out of the entrance to the bay. Whilst in the past this was not to much of a problem, with the increase of hotels etc. it does not appear that the facilities have kept pace.
Is there an actual treatment plant that services the town and the surrounding area? Is this a common problem on the islands or are others just lucky because of their geography.
Any thoughts.

Default Sun beds

Firstly I apologise if this is in the wrong area!!??
We are hoping to come out on October 12th for 10 days and just wondering if anyone could please tell me if sun beds will still be on beach? Providing of course weather is good enough
Many thanks

In a normal year the sunbeds are not removed until at least mid-October. I have been here some years for the half term break and still here.

It is anyone's guess as to what happens this year.

You could e-mail the tourist office (see e-mail address on the bottom of this page Pollença, a place with stories to tell ), to see if they have a date when the sun beds will be removed.

If you keep your eye on the See Mallorca Webcam you will be able to see when the sunbeds disappear - it looks to me like some of them have gone already.

They generally seem to manage to always have slightly more than are actually needed…..which is judging it about right I think. It’s one of those things we take for granted, but someone, somewhere has to plan for.
