Default Shark in the bay!

The other day some friends told me that while sitting on the beach opposite Brisas Marina they saw what looked like a shark or dolphin swimming in the sea, it's fin clearly visible above the water. I sort of believed them but thought maybe they should have had more tonic in their drinks the night before

Now I have just read on Facebook that baby sharks have been trying to beach themselves in Alcudia Marina and people are helping them back into the water

I think my afternoon dip is off the agenda

Sorry Debz - but am pretty sure it was baby dolphins.... Staff from Marineland and Palma Aquarium assisted with returning them to deeper water.

Here's the link from the local newspaper. http://www.diariodemallorca.es/suces...ia/940056.html

Here is the translation by Google from the Aparece una docena de delfines varados en la bahía de Alcúdia - Diario de Mallorca,

Quote:
A dozen dolphins stranded appears in the bay of Alcudia.
Apparently, this is disoriented hatchlings that being moved to a safe return to port area

A dozen dolphins have stranded up this morning in the Bay of Alcudia, so police and technicians have had to bring the place to return to sea.

Apparently, this is disoriented hatchlings that being moved to a safe area return to port, so that the work of specialists trying Marineland release are complicated.

Local Police Alcúdia and effective 112 have attended the scene and cordoned off the area to facilitate the task of rescuing the whales.

I thought it was probably dolphins .. I blame Nossie's Lee for scaremongering !!

Lovely to think they are out there. We saw a lot of pods on the ferry crossing to Santander.

Hopefully they will be ok but I think once dolphins have beached it's quite hard to make them swim out again

An update here :- Liberan en mar abierto a los doce delfines varados en Alcúdia » Part Forana » Noticias » Ultima Hora Mallorca, translated by Google.

Quote:
Released into the open sea to the twelve dolphins stranded in Alcúdia.

The alarm came at 06.30 yesterday morning. Alcudiamar reported the discovery of 12 dolphins stranded on the beach of Port d'Alcúdia. Quickly, they moved to the expert zone from Marineland, Palma Aquarium, the Fundació Natura Parc, Seprona, Local Police and Rescue Service Playas, who worked around the clock amid great excitement to attempt to return to animals to sea. It was twelve juveniles of striped dolphin.

A few minutes later, the news that a small whale was also caught a few meters from the coast in the Bay of Pollença Barcarès height stretched. Finally, it was confirmed that it was a pilot whale.

Experts shuffled various assumptions, including that the animals are sick and this has caused them to approach the shore.

But according to the DDM 3 of the dolphins died
