Ragdollabbi, note that I suggested that my son may have said it was greasy when meaning food served in sauces ~ not because it was greasy with with fat!
Hannah, re the glass blowing area. It has changed over the years and become a bit more commercial ~ there's a surprise ~ but still worth going in to see the guys at work blowing the glass in the hot ovens. I was given a try once (and given a teeny little blue glass dog for my efforts) and it is unbelievably hard work, those guys must have enormous lungs! There are quite a few interesting things to buy, although now not all of them are made on site.

That's ok Bella, as I said, I'm sure we will be visiting it as after hubby saw the selection of food on display he was determined to give it a try. It's just that many years ago we stayed in a hotel in Menorca and half the hotel (including my daughter) ended up in hospital with salmonella. Ever since then I have been a bit wary of buffets and only take what I think looks "safe" I'm sure the food will be fine and I will report back after our visit

Most definitely, really interesting, no charge for entrance (when we went 2011) just leave a tip in their tray.
The only food that you could possibly describe as 'greasy' would be the typical Mallorquin dishes as they are cooked with olive oil. There is so much choice, they cater for all nationalities and lots of salad choices. The sweet table is also a delight, 'spoilt for choice' would be an understatement!
I love this restaurant, good food, good quality, good atmosphere and great value for money but beware, go with an empty stomach.
You will always get a few flies in warm climates!

Has anyone had breakfast here? Wondering if that's a buffet style too. We land at Palma at 9am next week and dont get the keys to the villa until 4pm, was hoping to while away some time over a long breakfast.(Forecast is rain on Saturday, otherwise would have sat outside at Tangos)

Not sure about buffet breakfast Roig Cat, but you could always go for lunch. By the time you have finished that, it should be time for you to get your keys Enjoy

They don't serve buffet breakfasts but do serve coffee and croissants or even baguettes.

We lunched here last week. We seemed to be the only tourists so it felt very Spanish. Lots of buzzing chatter - a good atmosphere and busy.
Food seemed fresh and was constantly being replaced. Some super stews and soups as well as fresh salads, fish and anything you think of really. Bottleof wine, water and lemonade brought to the table and then beer and soft drinks on tap if you felt the need.
I'm glad we went because it filled a rainy day. The food was nice and It was certainly good vaule. However, I'm not classing it as a favourite because for me it all seemed a little too impersonal (as most buffets are). Great place to visit on a bad weather day though.
Good value for families on a budget. Young children are charged a special rate but ours were too old but at 9.50 (or may have been 8.50 I've forgotten) each it was a bargain.

I am often concerned about buffets as a little ott when it comes to infections due to a medical problem. I go overboard with hand santilizers and have one in every room of my home. Can anyone tell me if the food is covered or is it open for anyone to touch sneeze on or whatever?

Hi Eleanor
The buffet cabinets have the usual see-through hoods at shoulder level (if that makes sense) but the food was all open for view with no individual lids so you perhaps wouldn't like it.

Hi Hannah thanks very much. I think I will pass! In all the years we have been going to PP I have visited the glass factory many times but have never been in the restaurant. Don't think I dare chance it!
Thanks again.

I certainly wasn't implying that it was unsafe to eat here and I'm sure the food is wonderful but due to my medical problem I do need to be especially careful which means I go over the top and drive everyone mad! Sneeze into the middle of the arm and not the hand which passes germs, no hand shaking, hand santilizers on tap etc etc! OCD i'm afraid!
The reports from people visiting Menestralia are positive and excellent value too. Sorry if I gave the impression I was doubting the restaurant - the problem is me and not them!

At least you can see the food here. What about the majority of restaurants where you can't see the food, preparation or people preparing it? They could be up to anything!!
