We must be a wee bit strange ? Because we have been visiting this restaurant for years & never had a poor meal yet also we love the fact you can go in have a 3 course home cooked meal with fresh ingredients & wine for under 15 Euros, also we love the speed with which it is served, when you go in with three kids timing is critical, so come on guys credit where due.

It seems that many of the members do not realize that the original idea of `menu del dia´is that it is a 3 course hot meal at a sensible price for the workers to enjoy in their lunch break and therefore that is why it tends to be served up fairly speedily. It is easy enough to comment to the owner or waiter that you are not in a hurry and would like a rest between courses. If you do not say anything then they have every reason to believe you are having menu del dia for the ease and speed which it represents.

I think that most people do realise what menu del dia represents but I would have thought it fairly obvious that most holiday makers don't look like locals on their lunch breaks ...especially when they go in the evening! This has been an ongoing complaint amongst forum members about El Posito, and is definitely one of the reasons we have never been back after a very rushed meal a couple of years ago.

Quite agree with JMD40s explanation, particularly thinking of El Posito, who have a large number of locals taking lunch. Speedy service and joining in with the local hustle and bustle makes many a 'holiday maker' feel part of the local scene and adds to the experience of holidaying in PP.

However, having that quick turn round in the evening isn't good.

Our last visit took around 40 minutes for 3 courses with a couple of glasses of wine, followed by a bill somewhat higher than many other good class restaurants in the port. It wasn't as though people were queuing for a table. Quite the opposite on that occasion. This was a revisit to see if an earlier similar experience was a one off. Sadly it wasn't on this occasion.
We have always had at least one meal at El Posito, sometimes more, each visit to PP, reaching back some years to when we came with Travel Club of Upminster to the Club Illa d'Or apartments - excellent company and staff, greatly missed - Tonis was one of their recommendations.
I wish Toni and El Posito well, but if you are out for a weeks holiday and have only 6 evening meals to fit in, and the eating out is an integral part of you holiday experience, realistically, are you likely to give it another go?

Clinkham,, Your comment about 3 courses in 40 minutes plus wine did make me chuckle. My weird sense of humour brought to mind a vision of a Benny Hill sketch with the waiter stood behind you pointing at the plate and slapping you on the back of the head urging you on.

If my recollection is correct El Posito was only open in the day time and served the tradesmen of the port so that may explain the hurried attitude when serving. Evening meals came later but perhaps with the same service. I personally have had good and bad meals here. Perhaps they need to decide what market they want to cater for but if they can do both well they would be laughing all the way to....
