Hi Davey dundee and welcome to the forum!

We went to puig de Maria in May so I can't say for sure if its open April .but its worth going for the stunning views alone, and you could always take a picnic in case the restaurant is shut!

hi Debs,
Glad you like it up at the monastery. Its a great way to spend an afternoon. The food is simple but great and the wine is even better.

Dave

We spent ages trying to find the monastry as my husband and friend thought it was called something else so after numerous drives up scary mountain roads we finally got there after about 5 failed attempts!

Luckily the restaurant was open as by this time we were all starving and thirsty..and although the food was simple it was fine .It's definitely worth a visit for a pleasant drive (although ours was a bit longer than intended!)and the view is spectacular..Oh and the wine was good

hi Debz

How come you and chels drove up??? I always have to walk tho must admit nice walk. You can't drive right to the top can you? ( I know one person who'd prefer to walk)

Hope you are both ok.
Never eaten up there, but will try it, I can't keep quiet long enough tho, are you surprised lol?

Hi pops!

Oh dear I'm thinking of the wrong monastry..head still 'fuddled' after the weekend. I blame it on whoever bought the Hierbas!!! Puig de Maria is the one by Pollensa isn't it? Mind you we did try and drive up to it once but had to turn round as the road got very narrow..my friend Jackie and I were sitting in the back...praying as chels reversed VERY close to the edge :eek

The one I meant is either Santa Magdelina or Margelena (?)but as we were doing a ' monastry crawl' that day I'm totally confused.

Can't keep quiet? ..I don't know what you mean ! Mind you I can talk (no pun intended) :rollin

Debs x

Hello there. Not 100% sure but imagine that the restaurant is open all year - especially at the weekends as the locals love to go up there as a family. It is a very simple bar/restaurant offering a handful of local specialities and was open last year when I went up there during the winter months - cannot remember which month but think it was Jan or Feb as very cool!! Have fun as the views are fantastic and make the hike well worth while!

Well guys, I'm not sure I'd go as far as to call it a Restaurant. As far as I remember, it's a doorway that you order food through and you take it into a little anti room. Am I wrong?

ok so its not really a restaurant but you can take your paella or even anchovie sandwich outside and sit in the sun with a book , ipod and amazing views...wonderful. The couple of bottles of red wine helps too but watch out as the walk back down is a bit steep after the vino. We always go up there a couple of times every time we are in PP..DD

Don't worry about walking down the Puig. Use a skateboard
