Default Joey's trip report, part 1 & 2.

We arrived on October 3rd for our fourth visit of the year.Eight days this time and we were accompanied by our son (anything for a free holiday) Well he is only 27

First night TRIO. Always dependable and always excellent value for money.Three MDDs 52 Euros.Their menu has not changed for years.

Second night ISABELS for a spanish take-away.Rabbit with onions,Albondigas (spicy meatballs in tomato sauce) 2 portions of chips and one Trampo (Mallorcan salad) 23 Euros. Some crusty bread, ali oli and olives and a nice bottle of red wine. Beautiful.By the way the portions at ISOBELS are rather large so dont order too much.

Third night RUTA DEL TAPEO.I worked out a route of my own beforehand so that we had some idea where we would start and finish. We set off at about 1915 our first stop was TAPS where we had croquettes and bread.Along the road to TOTS-spicy chicken skewers and a large glass of wine.Next it was over the road to BAR RUMBO - two tapa on bread, round the corner to LATAPERIA/MANDUCA -a choice of mini pizzas. Along to NEPTUNOs and across the square to GEMINI 18-mini beefburger and spanish omelette cube, virtually next door was CAFE DEU MOLL and then round to CAN TOFOL -squid.We then turned back on ourselves and visited LA RODA which by this time of night was really humming and last but not least SERENITY COAST where we had sushi.
As you can probably see i could not remember what was served at every bar but suffice to say everyone without exception was really delicious and they were all different.I was surprised that every bar knew that we were on the Ruta especially as this was the first Friday one of the season. It was a great way to spend an evening (what i can remember of it) we visited bars that that we had never been in before and every one was very welcoming, even if they were busy.Dont be shy give the Ruta a go next Friday you wont be disappointed,Its a great fun night.

Fourth night BAR CORAL It was a lovely evening so we opted for a table outside.Bread, olives and ali oli, three drinks and of course it had to be shoulder of lamb for all three of us.Two cheesecakes to follow and complimentary liquers all round. 68 Euros.Everything was just perfect. Two types of bread, tasty olives and ali oli,the lamb just fell off the bone and the cheesecake was delicious. The service was excellent. All in all ten out of ten.

Default Part two

Fifth night.BODEGA CAN FERRA.We always eat at "the little peoples restuarant" at least once on every visit. We had to be quick this evening because the big football match "El Classico" (Barcelona v Real Madrid) was nearing kick-off
We ordered the House Paella and a litre of sangria.34 Euros for two.The paella was delicious and we had so much we could not finish it all and the sangria (which we did finish) is arguably the strongest and best tasting in the port.Another good meal.
After the meal we headed off to watch the match. We chose a very noisy bar on Tramuntana which was full of locals.I think it was called Xaloc - looked like it had just been refurbished. It was very hot in the bar.too hot in fact so we decamped at half time and watched the second half at Bonys.Got a table outside right in front of one of the tvs.Great game a two all draw.Messi and Ronaldo.Fantastico.

Sixth night GOLDEN LION Our second take-away of the holiday. Two spit roasted chickens 2 portions of chips and a salad.27Euros. We sat on the terrace and had crusty bread, lashings of ali oli (the one in the yellow tub,not the squeezy bottles)and a bottle of white wine.
Although a simple and cheap meal this is one of my favourites of the holiday. You will have to go a long way to get a better roasted chicken than one from the Golden Lion.It is a long walk from where we stay to the Golden Lion but it is well worth it.

Seventh night TRIO Again we had MDD as do 90% of all their customers.
Bread, olives and ali oli, one beer, half a bottle of good red wine and a large bottle of coke. For starters we ordered scrambled egg with prawns, melon with ham and spagetti bolognese (a meal in itself). Our mains were pork and beef skewers, roast lamb and pork fillet. Two cheesecakes and fresh pineapple covered in kirsch for dessert 51 Euros as normal.Every course was very good and for that price excellent value for money. You cant go wrong at Trios.

Eighth and last night.CAN TORRENS.Well what a surprise. My son loves lomo con col (pork wrapped in cabbage) and as we walked past Can Torrens we noticed that they had it on their MDD (not many restuarants in the port do) so in we went.
Bread and olives (no ali oli) For starters we had lentil soup, which was absolutely delicious, tuna salad and dates wrapped in bacon, which was different. We all had the lomo con col for mains - the meat just melted in the mouth and the cabbage was gorgeous. Two cheesecakes and a Mallorcan pudding to finish. We all had a glass of wine with our meal and the bill came to 36 Euros Yes 36 Euros for three. Amazing A very good and surprising night.I think we will be visiting Can Torrens again next year.

So that was our holiday.Great weather (considering it was October we were very lucky, sunshine all the way) Great food and a great time overall.Cant wait for next May.We have already booked the flights.
