Default Balaxia Day or night

Hello all,

looking forward to visiting Balaxia, but am wondering whether i can best visit for lunch (which appears more popular) but think this may be for the kids and pool, while the adults enjoy lunch, but as i have no kids , and apartment has a pool ,
am wondering if i can best make my first visit in the evening for the full, idyllic, experience.

Also does anyone know if they do an "menu del noche" at Balaxia, I see mallorcaboy said they did one, but I think that was in the winter months ???

Thanks

Hi Debz

I went to the Balaixa last month for lunch. Menu del dia 16 Euros. It was really lovely. Great food, excellent service and good house wine. We don't eat out as often as most of the forum members and so I havn't been to all of the restaurants that everyone recommends. However, this was the best meal we had all holiday.

Even though it's a nice place to take children it's still lovely for adults too. Don't let the thought of the pool and children put you off. It's not noisy. It's really beautiful and peaceful. (Well I think so anyway!).

I didn't see a menu del noche and their evening menu looked quite expensive.

When do you go to PP, is it soon. Am looking forward to reading your reviews. I do hope you like PP after all the preparation you've done.

Hope you have a really good time.

Default Balaixa Lunches and evenings

Hi All

Had menu del dosh there a few weeks ago and was told it would be on all summer. Ideal to while away a pleasant afternoon with good food, good company and the kids away from us all in the pool..............

............... having said that the evening experience is not to be missed, that Arnie welcome, the Mandy smile and Frankie’s hang dog looks, you feel good even before you eat the food.

New favourite this year are the Spanish sausages, to die for along with the Thai Mussel variation which makes you realise where Arnie gets his inspiration from, let alone his trousers.

Best of all are the kids portions of the main courses, absolutely super idea, no more nuggets and burgers, why can’t other places do something so innovative yet so simple

Guess why? Mandy and Arnie of course

Hi Sazzle and ManDir,

I have mailed Wendy today, what a pleasant girl, she was very friendly, said she would reserve us a nice table by the pool, she said not many kids around " so im safe" her words...lol..she wished us a pleasant journey, and said she was looking forward to seeing us, im amazed...so hospitable, and we havent even arrived, now thats what i call service, and im not suprised people love it, as the host/owners can often make the difference between and a return, or a non return, so thats nice

so ive booked for next week, day time, and agree with manDir, the evening menu does look expensive, but get a feeling we will venture up there for an evening meal, as this place, appeals to me the most so far...and im big on ambience, and romantic idyllic settings, this place covers it all...1 working day left !! oh yeah !

not a chance we wont like it, original idea was for the walks and mountains etc, and was concerned would be to quiet, but i fear not, and get a feeling we also, will return, as its exactly what we are looking for in a holiday.

Cant wait to leave a review, as i will....( obviously )

leave on thursday...!

spudbag is in same apartments and is already there, hope weather is good for him !!

Default Balaixa lunch and evenings

Many of you know my feelings about Balaixa. Having a home here for the last 16 years and visiting most of the restaurants in the Port (some still there, some gone and replaced by others who also have gone), I can say that Balaixa has consistently given good food and service since it opened under Mandy and Arnie. Not everyone will rave, as we have seen on this Forum at times, but enough places have gone out of business here to show that they are successful, and are so because they are good.
Now to the question, lunch or dinner? My opinion is, you have to do both. Lunch, and then a lazy afternoon by the pool being served G&T's by Arnie is about the best way to spend a day, and an evening meal under the stars, served by the lovely Mandy is a perfect evening.
Perhaps it's not cheap, but I have to say that there are few places in the Port now that are, and you'll get better value, in my opinion, here than at most others.
Anyway, all this is, as I say, my personal opinion, but I bet most of you who have not been yet, on trying, will agree

Slevinmarie

A 5 euro taxi ride and a couple of euro more on the way back last summer

Don't agree with the expensive bit, similar prices to the less fine dining experiences in the port and twice as good

Now Siller, thats not cheap! But excellent
