Default Timberman August review

Having only booked this holiday 4 or 5 days earlier it was lovely to be back and for the first time in 7 years it was just the 2 of us for just 9 days instead of the usual 2 weeks.

Normally we have an early morning flight but this time we arrived a 17.30, so I was a little concerned at the possible queue at the Goldcar desk. As I approached I could see loads of people waiting but at the Hertz desk next to Goldcar desk, just one person in front of me.

Did the deal had the keys before the last bag was off the carousel, result.

Dropped our cases off at the apartment and made our way into the Port.

As it had been a long day we decided on a quiet meal so off to the Sparrow Sunday 12th.

MDD 14.50 euros 2 courses and a drink and an extra 3 euros for sirloin steak.

To start 1 squid rings 1 stuffed mushrooms, mains trio of fish and steak in pepper sauce both superb lovely vegetables. 2 large beers 1 small and 2 glasses wine. Total bill 39 euros, hows that for value really nice restaurant. And they do a great breakfast.

Monday
we decide to try somewhere we hadn't been before
Los Faroles Shared a peppars pardron to start Followed by 1 Turbot and one grilled sea bass. bottle wine, water and coffee. 58euros. All very nice good service very friendly will be back.

Tuesday
We have booked a table at O'Lume
What can I say! Jaime as usual his charming self a warm welcome and shown to our table. Shared Fish croquettes to start then a superb mains of Confitte of Duck which Mrs T left not a scrap and for me the Bass al Sal which was so moist and perfectly cooked, still drooling, Homemade cheescake and crepes with Grand Marnier sauce both again excellent. Bottle of wine reccommended by Jaime, water and coffee and of course the home made chocolates and complimentary drinks. Total bill 70 euros. A leisurely meal sat there til nearly midnight. Fantastic meal with a great host. Quality and value you would be hard to beat.

Wednesday

Citrus not been here before, but after all the reviews thought we would try it.

Only one other table in use that night, but guess what Scotland are playing football so the TV is on, not loud, but a distraction Mrs T is not particually happy about. But the food was good. Shared Tempura chicken followed by 1 stir fry and 1 shoulder of lamb which just fell off the bone and for me the caramel desert, had to try it and very good. bottle of wine and water, bill
47euros. Good foof friendly service.

A very good start not a poor meal. All restaurants providing a very friendly and efficient service with a smile. Will it continue?

Wont bore you all too much will post again soon.

I keep on reading about how great O'Lume is.Perhaps my poor opinion of this restaurant is known to a number of people on this forum. I was in PP for a period of seven weeks from mid June to the first week in August. Many times at lunchtime and early evening I walked past and saw Jamie standing outside I assumed for the purpose of enticing people into his establishment so naturally I thought that there had been no improvement. There obviously were no customers inside as he also would have been inside. Please tell me what has changed from the previous years.

Stevo66 – I’ll reply to your question in the O’lume thread rather than risk taking Timbermans thread off topic.
