Default Mazanas Y Peras & L'ombra - Pollensa Old Town

Nice to see that Mazanas Y Peras have moved to larger premises at the foot of the Calvari Steps in Pollensa Old Town.

The cafe that they have moved into used to be called L'ombra - Fronted by a friendly Scottish man, who I believe is called Alan.

I just wondered if anyone knew what he is upto now?

Thanks Lollipop - He was always very welcoming and friendly, and whilst not exactly a regular, it was always a favourite spot of mine on market-day or just after a walk up the 365 steps...

Never has an ice cold beer tasted better!

Finally got to try here, we we leaving on the day it opened in January so missed it then. We called in the first week on the Sunday after the market, it was very busy so we had to wait for a table but so glad we did. Its a lovely setting in the small square, with table on the different levels under the shade of the trees which was just as well as it was so hot.
We had a bottle of Jose Ferrer rosado along with a bottle of the new beer brewed in Mallorca which I must say was wonderful, it was a red beer, full of flavor so I must track that down again.
We went for the goats cheese salad which quite simply was the best one we have ever had, instead of the normal one bit on the top this was full of cheese and a lovely dressing and with the wine and the setting we spent a wonderful hour chilling out in the square. They have a set menu it seems for the evening which was Tapas but very meaty, so not sure we will be back in the evening, but since the closure of La Font del Gall this could become our regular Sunday post market treat!

Haven't tried it myself, but it wouldn't be the 'Tramuntana Rotja' from Cerveza Tramuntana? -
Nuestras cervezas - Tramuntana Cerveza Artesanal de Mallorca

Sounds just like it:
"Tramuntana Rotja is a red ale with a flavour of cereals and a medium alcoholic content of 5% vol. The mixture of caramel and roasted malts give it its main feature.

The optimal temperature for drinking is 3º to 5º."

Must try the 'Negra' ...
