Lost in Translation

( Lost in Translation: 2003 Bill Murray/Scarlett Johansson )

I am sure in order to run a successful restaurant you have to interact with your customers ( although from what my mate's wife was telling me about her conversation with Worrell-Thompson at his Notting Hill Grill a couple of weeks ago, perhaps not !!!!!).

Went to Na Ruixa last week and hadn't been there for about three years. Run by Manola ( ex Katy's bar and then El Poso ) we had always found it to be a pleasant place to eat especialy if you sit in the pedestrianised area looking down to the sea. Can't ever recall seeing a review on this place so comments welcome.

Now Manola, although an extremely pleasant guy, portrays an angst and worry which conveys itself to the whole proceedings of eating there. We've never known him to have enough staff and it shows bigtime with the service. Asked to provide a basic description of some fish, nothing complicated mind , only how is it cooked? and what is the sauce ? , the pleasant young waiter goes into a Manuel routine from Fawlty Towers so we end up guessing !!!!!

Anyway food OK,but only OK . However Bonyladette's seabream , although a beautiful example of the species, once fetched from the kitchen and then filleted in front of us on the table, turned out to be stone cold. Not really much point in complaining ( OK I hear you shout you should have) cos it just wears you down and the fish , having been steamed , couldn't have just been popped in the oven.

So bit disappointing really, after asking for the bill about five times ,it eventually came in at about 60 euros per couple.

Were we on a bad night?, any views , folks ???

Interesting. I've often walked passed this place but never ventured in. Anybody else been?

We also used to go to NA RIUXA occasionally but after an ok'ish meal a couple of years ago, nothing special as you described Bonyslad , and very poor disgruntled service we haven't returned.

That does it for me then. Unless someone has a good review, I shan't darken its doors !
