Yes Tone, MDD is a great way of keeping costs down. Some places only do it at lunchtime but more and more are also doing evenings as well.
I personally think the El Posito 3 course lunch including bread, water and wine for 10€ is fantastic.
Stay's evening MDD, again 3 courses, bread, olives, water, wine, coffee and liqueur for 34.60€ great value.
Hell's Kitchen do a great 3 course MDD with 6 choices for each course including bread & olives and wine for around 16€.
Mirch Massala 3 course + wine for around 16€.

As ever - I've got to agree with Sparky the lunchtime Menu del Dia at El Posito is outstanding value.
For a more expensive evening option I'd recommend La Llonja - a bargain at €29. You can see the latest menu on offer here: Restaurant La Llonja

Then of course you have Tango, Trio and the new buffet at Tots plus many more. Always good value.

If you have transport then a visit to Menestralia (near Campanet - signposted from the motorway) is well worth a visit. Go in the week between 1pm and 4pm and you get all you can eat from an extensive buffet plus water, beer, soft drinks and a bottle of red (between 2) for under 10 euros. Its the best value I have found anywhere on the island.

MDD is a great way to try new eating experiences and to keep costs under control!
One thing to remember is that many restaurants may advertise it outside, but will only bring over the "normal" menu when you are seated. You will in most cases need to ask for the Menu del Dia, which they will then happily bring over.
Personally I think that Stay offers a really great deal. Fine dining, great food and a superb location. At 34.60€ it is a boozy and memorable night including,
Bread & Olives
Amuses Bouche
Starter
Mains
Desert
Coffee
Decent Bottle of Wine per couple
Complimentary "Short" to end the night
Go to most restaurants on the front and order the same and you will pay a small fortune.

Stay menu of the day
Hi all
Can't wait to come out again. 17th June and counting. Stay Restaurant is our favourite in the port. Always good value for money and never dissapoints, its our special evening out during our visits, and as someone said if you were to get all these things they offer in the menu at other restaurants it would cost a lot more. Happy holidays.

Last week Maxims were still offering a great evening mdd for 14.50 excluding drinks
Not sure how long it will be available though as for the last few years I am pretty sure they stopped it in high season
The Rustic Salad starter was excellent

The Chinese restaurants will offer MDD at around 8 euros including drink, not fine dining, put perfectly enjoyable food, if you have kids and they enjoy that type of food then it's a wonderfull way to keep your budget under control. Luna de Meil won't let you down.

Both Stay and La Llonja offer upmarket food and settings at reasonable prices. Every meal in these two restaurants feels like a special occasion with fresh linen table cloths and well turned out staff. With the newly strengthened Pound they offer very good value for money. Las Zarzoles offers a similar experience but at greater cost as I don't think they have a menu del dia in the evenings
