Default Bistro Balaixa is open!!

At long last, Bistro is open. We arrived with anticipation, what would be new?, what would be familiar? What we experienced was a great mix of the two.
Firstly, Mandy and Mar are their usual attentive, but relaxed selves, then arrived the wonderful rustic bread, olives and gorgeous alioli.
We perused the menu. Some mouth watering prospects. What to have?
I plumped for the char grilled squid with padron peppers and chorizo, wifey had chicken livers in puff pastry (big enough for a main course).
Followed by Sea Bream with tomatoes and black olives, wifey chicken, garlic mash and pesto.
Pudding was "Cherry Soup" (never heard of this before, and it was lovely), wifey had Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla ice cream. Many of us have delighted in the Chocolate Fondant with Pistachio ice cream from Trencadora, wifey said this was even better.
All in all a great night. First nights are usually the ones that you don't go to as this is where all the disasters occur. Not so tonight, everything was a treat. Quite a good number too, so it bodes well.
The restaurant itself is nicely laid out. We had never been here when it was La Tasca, so we had a nose around. The outside terrace is nice and intimate with a lovely view out to sea, (this was wifeys view. My view was her face and the bushes behind her, lovely none the less). Upstairs is a nice enclosed terrace eating area and a spacious lounge bar area.
We had a great time and look forward to the next visit in the not too distant future.
Lunch starts next week.

Default Bistro Balaixa

Hi Belladonna,
leave the Port on the Pollensa road as if you were going to Balaixa. After about a mile you will see a sign to turn right to Cala San Vicente. Turn off here and keep on this road until you get to the sea. Bare right here and at the top of this road turn left. This will bring you round and down toward Cala Mollins. Once you are down by the front keep left, passing the car park on your right and take the next road on your right. Bistro Balaixa is about 20 yards up on the left. Enjoy
