Default Porto's Christmas tale

Once upon a time, many Christmasses ago, in the twentieth century, a man and his wife were far from their homeland, in a strange far away land.
(Actually this is nothing to do with Christmas, but hey, go along with it!)

And lo, it had come to pass that, their exile from home had come to an end, and soon they would set out on the long arduous and wearying journey homewards.
(Yes, it was the last day of their holiday in PP and later would be heading back to Palma airport en route.):rolleyes

Packing all their garments and new found purchases like trinkets and wine of the land had been more consuming of time than usual, as there had been difficulties with the camel.
(Common experiences there then, what with some car problem or too much vino, what with the new security rules re carry on items.):x

Before bidding farewell to the sun baked lands ,the man and his wife sought to find an inn where they could have some food before their journey and found one with a view of the sparkling sea. The innkeeper welcomed them and yet were they seated at a good table.
(Front line, name rhymes with Mint with the Hole, got it?)

The innkeeper’s assistant came with bread and olives and water and wine, and a dish was chosen with fish and chicken and rice with saffron.
(Mixed paella, agua sin gas and a vino blanco and hey! Vino de la casa?? Does it matter whether it was or not??):rollin

Now, there were seated at a table close by, four women together, and all had reached thirty Christmasses. The women were happy, and were partaking of olives and wine, while they choose their food.
(Thirty somethings having a nice relaxing drinkie pre lunch, then there’d be more to follow!!) :lol

And lo, the feast had proved tobe more than sufficient for the man’s wife and she told him so, whereupon he said he would clear all the remaining platter. The wife said “I don’t know where you put it” at which the man , not in a loud, but a noticeable voice , replied “here, that’s where”, slapping his thighs.”Just like Graeme Souness!!”:rollin :rollin

From the next table came gasps and laughs and looks toward the man whose legs were out of sight beneath the table, clad in attire, not of his homeland.
(Tee, shorts and sandals, as you would!)

“Hmnnn, watch when he goes away” was heard from the next table.
(Hey the man was only going to clear his plate!):b

The innkeeper’s assistant was called and the account was settled and the man and his wife got up and left. Whilst walking away, thinking,”how do we get on to the camel after that feast?” strange peals of laughter came from the next table. The wine was good, the food was good, the company was good, but sometimes expectations in life can turn out a disappointment!:lol :lol

Some morals come out of the tale.

Firstly, don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed.

Secondly, don’t overload your camel for the homeward journey!! >D

Really enjoyed the paella that day and looking forward to my next ties in the Champions League!!

A very Merry Christmas to all and a healthy and Happy New Year to follow.
