Default Bar Cultural

Has anyone else heard the rumour that the owner of Bar Cultural has decided to retire?
The rumour has it that the Bar has been sold, and that it will close shortly and re-open under the new ownership.

The people who told me were pretty certain it was going to happen!
If it's true, this will definitely be the end of an era!

Anybody know anything????

Cheers!

San Miguel

First the Neptuno and now this place. How much more can a body take. .
Still looking on the bright side it may get turned into a Tex Mex.

Yes i too have heard this and while i did not use the bar very much i think it would be a shame if it changed too much. However that said, nothing is forever and sometimes change is a good thing, so we will have to wait and see what happens. I do wish the owner a very long and happy retirement, the poor man has struggled since his wife died and i know he has been worried that his business took a downturn after the smoking ban came in.

The family only lease the Bar and the owners want to upgrade it. They also own all of the other buildings on that side. The daughter Tina will move to the bar along from the post office called Ramon, the lease of which is in her family. There is a possibility that in one years time they will return to the square on a different site. They pay very high rents and are tired of working so hard for other people!!. I wish Tina well in her new venture and I am sure Manolo will be about helping her.

I have been told by a regular customer that the bar will close at the end of September and Tina has already started to get Ramons ready to open.

Prime spot for Cappuccuni PP 2 - they took over a place similar to The Cultural in Pto Andratx a few years and made it lovely but not OTT.....
Manolo certainly deserves a long happy retirement and I wish him all the best. I saw that Bar Ramons was being cleaned the other day but I did not realise who had taken it over so good luck to Tina also, it makes sense something smaller and no rent.
I hope the Cultural does not stay closed for long - it will leave a big gap in the square.

That is bad news.Over the last 7 years it has become our bar of choice. We always felt like we were 'abroad' when sitting outside.
I'm not sure where we'll go now,but I know it wont be the one in the square that looks like it could be in Magaluf.

I have just spoken to the same guy and he apologised to me because he got it wrong. As Pollensaparadise reported the bar will close tomorrow.
I just hope that whatever happens, it will be remain a place where the local people can go to enjoy reasonably priced drinks and snacks. If not the square will die in the winter .

Thats is sad, we were hoping to go while away, yes it should stay a bar but if its true the rent is doubling I expect it will be hard to make a bar work, I fear it will become a restaurant not necessarily open during the winter!!!

First Neptuno and now Cultural hope PP doesn't lose it's charm. We certainly do not need any more restaurants on the Square IMO

It will be such a shame if it closes...it is a lovely spot to sit outside and watch what is going on
