Crikey this thread started whilst I was having a wonderful week in Cornwall and completely passed me by

What a loss this will be .............. there was something very comforting about the fact that this bar could exist in what is clearly a prime spot without ever looking as though it "tried" ........ maybe the truth is that it couldn't survive .............. sadly this was one of the few places that kept the square alive in Jan/Feb and will be missed by locals and by winter time tourists ................... and goodness me where will all the Dads lurk whilst waiting for their daughters to fall out of Chivas

Lets hope whoever takes it over is sympathetic to the tradition of PP albeit moving with the times and tidying the place up but that it is also a year round business ............... the square needs it

Or if not lets hope Bar Cultural opens in C'an Torrens sooner rather than later and stays open all year round

Wonder where Canon Mel will go after his services now? Whenever we needed to speak to him about the wedding, we knew where to find him on a Sunday Morning!

I stand corrected Steve! As i said there have been so many, always felt a bit sorry for some of them, they always seemed empty. Don't know how they are going to fit all the Cultural Bars customers in. It's a bit small with little or no room outside, on a very busy road.

I have been past the NEW Cultural several times today and am glad that the traditional local supporters have followed them, it does make that corner of bars come to life now, maybe a up and coming area for the locals

Just back having watched all the Classicos in here yet again... surrounded by locals from 3-93 years old!

Luckily I'd no idea it was closing or it would have been a black spot in an otherwise perfect summer holiday...

Help Please ...... I can't place Bar Ramon ......... so I know where the post office is and I know where the car park is but the only Bars I can think of are Bar Junior on the corner, bar Bodiquita(sp??? ) on the other corner ( I think of Calle Llevante)

Where is it in relation to these ?

Kev,

At last Sunday's service Cannon Mel said that he had made arrangements with C'an Torrens to be the new location for coffee.

Hi cd.

Long time no see!

If you look on Google Streetview you will see Bar Ramon about 50 yards along from the Post Office, on the same side, opposite the green coloured block of flats, name escapes me at the moment.

I know where you mean now, thanks guys

From what I remember this is quite a small ace and so will be cozy if all the regulars still try to squeeze in

Just went passed this morning and it was very busy. They have about 6-8 tables outside in the stree now which were all full and plenty of people inside. Seems like the regulars have followed the family to this much smaller and not so well located venue. Well done!

The new Bar Cultural has already expanded, they have now also taken over the "Cinebank" shop next door.

That's good news Sparky! That shop has been empty for years, nice to see a bit more life along that street, some good bars around there now.

Yes Smiddy, we thought it might happen as when the old Bar Cultural closed we saw them taking furniture into the Cinebank. They have now knocked the wall down to make it one bigger area.
