Good Take Aways
Hi, although a frequent visitor to the island I usually end up cooking most of the time. We have a disabled son so we have to cater for all the family's needs.
Can you give me an idea of the best "Take Aways" please. It will help the holiday go with a swing, and we can do our own BBQ's as well. thanks.

Hi Suzy you have the codfather for fish and chips, there is a Mallorca take away just along from Tomi´s garage (sorry forgot the name) Alfresco´s which is under a new name now, the best grill, also most of us have take away menus too.

There is Casa Isobel in C/Roger de Flor lovely Mallorcan fayre, also La Cantina2 in C/Mendez Nunez.
Another thing to remember is that a lot of restaurants will do food to take away, it's worth popping in and asking.
Have a look here as many do say they will provide a take away service http://www.puertopollensa.com/restau...ars_cafes.html

I've seen a butchers in c/ Xaloc that had spit roasted Chickens & lots of other prepared items to take home. As mentioned above, many places even if they don't advertise it will prepare food for you if you ask/order it in advance. I often see people walking out of the more Mallorcan places with Paella Pans (filled with Paella!).

Yes the cooked meats from the butcher in C/Xaloc is very good but it is rather expensive.

As said, many restaurants will do if you ask. We had excellent take- out paella's from Ca'n Josep recently.

So, for a spit-roast chicken, where else other than the expensive butcher?

Chicken - Golden Lion / Tamarells?
I'll second the Golden Lion for delicious spit-roast chicken.
Tamarells also used to have spit-roast chicken out in front most days. Haven't been this year yet, so maybe someone else can confirm.

Has Casa Isobel re-opened then, I thought it had closed down?

Take away food
The spit roast chickens from El Jordi, the little shop just behind the Hotel Daina, in the Calle Formentor are wonderful! We always get ours from there.
It's always a good plan to order during the morning - and then your chicken will be ready for you when you want it. Maria who runs the shop is a gem too!

The butcher in Can Xaloc is 1 euro more for a spit roasted chicken, gravy & roast spuds if ordered, but I defy anyone to find a tastier chicken in the port, in fact it is one of the finest butchers in Mallorca, the Husband & wife combo who run it are obviously very proud of their work. it has the finest cuts of meat & the premises are spotless.
