The Bulls Head

Hi all,

Sorry for barging in like this, but I'm trying to locate/ work out the location of the old Bulls Head pub in PP?

I visted to Puerto Pollensa back in August 1995 with a mate of mine whilst on one of those "don't know where you're going till you arrive" type holiday deals. We were both 18 and hoped that we would be placed in the south i.e. Magaluf, but we were put in Puerto Pollensa...LOL! Lovely place, but for two 18 year old lads it wasn't quite what we were after haha! Why on earth we didn't pay the extra 50 quid each for Magaluf when booking is anyone's guess?

We both spent the majority of our time in the Bulls Head! I remember talking to the chap who did the karaoke but cannot remember his name, but he was very diplomatic in telling me I couldn't sing :) Also, there was another chap who served the drinks. I seem to remember that he had a big nose, I have a picture somewhere of him where he his pointing at his nose.

For the life of me, I cannot remember the pub's location and I have been looking on Google Earth but nothing jogs my memory. From what I've read, the pub is long gone and the building is derelict. However, if any of you could give me some pointers to where it was located then that would be great!

Cheers!

The Bulls Head was on the road Juan de la Cosa. It has now been converted into a house.

Thanks Fencer! I'm getting obsessed with this now...LOL!

We stayed at the Hotel Montelin and I seem to remember that the pub was a 10 minute walk from our hotel. Anyway, I've taken a screenshot of what I think was the Bulls Head, am I correct? I do seem to remember that it was on the right at the end of a street but some unknown reason I seem to remember going down a set of stairs in order to get into the pub...not too sure though!

Yes that's it, to get to it from the front line you turn into C/La Gola past the Taj doner kebab place and Citrus bar/bistro then you turn right into the second street back. I don't remember steps down into it though, also i think the guy with the big nose must have been Dave, he is now back in the UK.

Yay!!! Thanks Sparky...I must try and post the few photos I have, I'm sure you might recognise a few faces.

I think when you went in you went down a couple of steps (not sure), dart board was on the right and pool table on the left, bar was on the right and if memory is correct you walked through to a small courtyard. Didn't the guy who owned it open up Trotters bar at CSV.

Sparky 31-07-2011 17:02

Yes Hamcas and "Trotters" in the Port.:)

Actually the guy with the big nose was called Mark, his nickname was "Nostrils" and used to point to his nose when having his photo taken, he is now married to Niki the singer.

drbeat 01-08-2011 13:09

Yes, Nostrils...I remember now! Seem to remember that the karaoke chap was called Mel and the toilets were named after him?? Here's some pics that I found,

Another chap who worked in the Bulls Head.

The pictures were taken during the first week of September 1995.

We can see the rear of the Bulls Head from our apartment and have watched with interest the reformation that has taken place over the last 12 months or so. Originally the back was quite an eyesore with collapsing roofs etc, a shame as obviously around 1995 it must have been quite a thriving business. The transformation is fantastic and has made our view much better than previously, it's good to see a picture of the new front as I have never seen this side of the building! A credit to the person that had the foresight to turn it into a private house.:)

Sparky 02-08-2011 09:33

OMG!!! i had forgotten about Mark, he was a really nice lad so was the other one, i think he was called Nick but am probably wrong.;)

Stevo66 03-08-2011 10:42

Nick was there in the 1980s Sparky. We used to take our kids there when they were toddlers until one day they were watching some kids programme on the TV and suddenly the picture changed to a porn movie. We did go back but without the children(lol).

Stevo66 03-08-2011 10:50

Sorry, have just been informed by better half that the barman was called Pip and not Nick.If Nick is reading this post then I apologise.

Sparky 03-08-2011 11:10

Thats ok Steve. We didn't find the Bulls Head until the early 90's and remember Roy working there as well. ;)

I have fond memeories of this place.

I can remember going there in Oct 1997 to watch England v Italy world cup qualifying followed by Eubank v Calzaghe, and finally stumbling home about 3 a.m !!

Like a lot of places in the port, its shame its not there anymore.
