Trip Report 2 (diet dropped!)
8th night – back to the teenagers favourite Nico’s. Again chose the roulette wheel to start followed by various Mexican dishes and steaks finishing with apple crumble. Friendly staff, well worth a visit.
9th night – back to
El Posito: great welcome and excellent service from Chris. This has become one of our firm favourite’s serving traditional Mallorcan cuisine. It was a pleasure to meet Mr & Mrs Sparky again. Starters red peppers with seafood and grilled prawns, mains cod El Posito and duck followed by lemon meringue pie and chocolate cake.
10th night –
Stay, what can we say, lovely setting, wonderful service and beautifully presented food. Starters light shrimp soup with Riesling and the mussels Basque style, mains sea-scallops & prawns marseillaise, with pastis & saffron sauce, fillet of john dory with light brown onions and olive-oil, Majorcan style and Guinea fowl with champagne and foie-gras sauce followed by vanilla ice cream served with hot raspberries and assorted cheese. It was difficult to select our favourites in Stay as all the dishes are excellent. Although this lovely place may appear expensive you can get the menu del dia which is great value for money. Remember to book as this is a very popular restaurant. Great place for a special occasion.
11th night- back to Iru: starters goats cheese& grilled vegetables on a puff pastry base and mixed croquettes, mains monkfish in fisherman’s sauce, chicken stuffed with almonds and spinach, sea bass with green peppers & Mallorcan liqueur sauce & panadea potatoes followed by crème brulee with chocolate cookies and passion fruit and raspberry sorbet. To top the night we watched the moon rise from behind the hills on the far side of the bay – unforgettable.
12th night – O’Lume (previously one of our favourites in their old location, this was our first visit in the new location – recommended by Smiddy). We had a table booked in the garden, lovely setting to enjoy a fabulous meal. Starters- shrimp and Serrano salad, ricotta ravioli with truffle sauce and grilled crayfish, mains lamb chops and sea bass in martini sauce followed by honey & crepes and coconut crème brulee. Again difficult to chose favourites as all the dishes are delicious.
Try the Champagne cocktail it will blow your socks off!
13th night- our favourite, Citrus Bistro: starters Tempura Chicken (Kenny’s signature starter) and cod & tuna fishcake, mains sea bass & pesto mash and pepper steak followed by sticky toffee pudding, Citrus cheesecake and chocolate and orange torte. This bistro deserves to succeed and we would encourage all forum readers to try the food and support a great couple who deliver a professional service whilst providing excellent value for money.
Last night – Ikebana: starters tomato, onion and anchovy salad, calamari Romano, mains Lomo Con Cal (pork wrapped in cabbage) and grilled prawns followed by chocolate brownie and profiteroles. Nice end to a great holiday.
Well, we need to start saving again for another excellent gastronomic journey around the best restaurants in PP in 2012.
