Thumbs down Lemon bar

Yes, the Lemon Bar last night was a Lemon, drinks order had to be made
three times on the second attempt to get a drink we were told "The
Bar had no Jack Daniels" !!!
What a shame as we enjoyed this bar so much last year, have to find
another watering hole, any ideas fellow members ?
Thanks.

It does sound as if they were having a bad night to me. We went this year on a chilly and blowy May night, and found it great. Fantastic setting and very atmospheric, i love the lights in the trees. It was one of our teenagers favs.

Default lemon bar

Hi Plackyman, try Makassers cocktail bar in the square, Went there last night and went up into the newly opened upstairs lounge . May be a little more expensive than some but worth it to be in or above the hubub of the square. Going there tonight for our last nightcap as home tomorrow. We had a bad experience in the Lemon bar last year andhave never set foot in the place since.

It's a shame re the Lemon bar. It should be the best outside venue in PP for evening drinks in particular.

Its position is enviable right over the sea and it's a good size. Smartened up with sufficient well-priced drinks and decent staff it should be a "gold mine".

I went in there a few times during the day last year and had no problems. It just does not quite seem to have got its evenings sorted out.

Big shame. Hope management at the Daina read this !!

Default lemon bar

Agree with you there nickpaulanoah, when it was the orange bar we used to go there every other night and never had a problem. When i had my problem last year i actually spoke to the duty manager must have fallen on deaf ears it would seem.

They have a sign up this year that says it's only for Hotel Daina residents, or is that just for the use of the pool?.

Yes Sparky. During the day the outside entrance 'Lemon Bar' sign is removed and it appears to revert to a hotel pool facility for guests. They now put up the entrance 'Lemon Bar' sign over the 'Daina Pool' sign in the evening.

Thanks James, so does that mean non residents can't use the bar during the day?

That's certainly the external impression - at least from the sign(s) and the fact they're now going through this procedure of changing them to be 'more welcoming' in the evening!

That said, I have not tested security . It might be worth an expedition to see the consequences!

Yes quite, it seems a bit odd doesn't...it's like a case of "your money is ok at night but not good enough during the day".

Default lemon bar

Hi Sparky, the bit that made us laugh was the gates to the pool were locked early the other morning but the fences both sides of the gates were missing. Work that one out. P,S. have noticed the sign banning the public to the pool is also gone today. wasnt' me !!

Hilarious S&L, you just couldn't make it up could you? .
It is a pity that they changed the policy though, early and late last summer, hubby and i used to go there at midday most days to have a couple of beers each and sit in the sun. The barman was really friendly and told us we could use the pool if we wanted, he is now a manager at the Pollensa Park. We were in the Golden Lion one night back in April and he came in after his shift had finished, he remembered us and came over for a chat.

I was struck a couple of weeks ago by the pools of stagnant water either side of the entrance, where there are slight dips in the surface of the pavement, very unpleasant smell, it would only take a few minutes with a broom to shift & there is a drain nearby.

Yes, that huge pool of water was there every day in early June. So easy to clear up. Just such a shame.

They're really missing a trick.....

Pool of water is there every evening. I first noticed it the night of the Feria de Mar when one of the poor stall holders for the shops had her table right in the middle of it and therefore lost lots of potential customers. We were out the other night and were going to take a foto of the entrance as I rather like the lit up large flower pots but the foto was ruined by the pools of water.
The Hotel Miramar have opened up the Sea Lounge Bar - much lower key offering drinks and deserts but still a fab venue and offering great views. Only until midnight though I understand.
