I went for a drink in bonys last night, was charged 4.50 vodka redbull. 4 vodka orange juice- water X 2 at 1 euro each. Great prices if you ask me!

Always has been and always will be a total split re Bonys. Im with Debs and Rab, but it just goes to show how we can all be diverse and still get on!!

We usually call in once or twice during our stay, but only when it is not too packed. However in May, we were stunned at how much we were charged for 2 white wines. It was twice as much as we paid in other bars and for the same measure. Now i don't watch the pennies when on hols but this was way over the top.

All i can say is he must be doing something right, as the place was packed to the rafters everynight! Surely we dont mind paying a tiny bit more for a great feelgood factor when we're on our jolly hols?
We tried the Cafe L'algar one night, but were a bit dissapointed as there was no atmosphere at all, prob something to do with the bright spotlights that were flooding the place.

Jiggs i agree, he is very popular and i do like the guy. He always remembers us but as i said 2 vinos were double the price we paid anywhere else, now you have to admit, that is not a tiny bit more.

[QUOTE=jiggggy;24012]All i can say is he must be doing something right, as the place was packed to the rafters everynight! QUOTE]

He most certainly is Jiggy. He is a very shrewd businessman who brings something different to PP but not for me.

If I want Alcudia/Blackpool I will go there but from what I gather most of the posters on here (including me) want to preserve the Mallorcan charm of PP and Bonys flies in the face of this.

The hypocripsy of some posters on here is quite staggering. There was all sort of murmurings of discontent when an equally shrewd businessman took over the house at the start of Pine Walk and turned it into a Tex Mex. There are constant posters on here who snipe at their beloved PP daring to have a Burger King yet these same posters embrace the blatant commercialism that is Bonys bar.

What next? Coronation Street on the outside plasmas? Sorry, we already have that. Perhaps this time next year Only Fools and horses? All the while the haven that is PP gradually gets swallowed up in the grand scheme of all things southern Mallorcan. Keep going guys, you are doing a wonderful job.

But surely the charm of PP is that there is something for everyone. I simply don't use the places that aren't my cup of tea. There are still plenty of authentic places to keep me happy and fed.

... a bit harsh Rab. All things change.. and as we get older, we like change less and less and I do agree with you.. the edges are constantly being nibbled at, but like belladonna, Im coming at this from both sides. I avoid PP in peak summer, but it is a family resort... and Bony's is making it easier for the folks with wee ones... Mum & Dad can have a drink & the children are happy, entertained and safe. And yes ur rite, he is coining it in, from really making very little effort... just being a business that knows the difference between seeing ur customer or just seeing another jo public and wheres my pay packet.
As to Burger King etc... yup I object.... not to them being there, but to the authorities for letting them make their mark as they have. Go to some of the towns in france, BurgerKing, MacDonalds and so on are all there, they are not allowed their usual signage, the shop frontages MUST blend with what is in keeping with the local area... so there are others who must share the blame.... planning permission has to be given... no ? And at the end of the day, u have to move such a little away from Bonys to be in a quieter, more traditional place that I think we can all have our own special type of holiday.

Rabs, if you dont like it , just go there! but dont be personal and have a go at the posters on here about being hypocritical. I for one love Bonys!! nothing hypocritical about that, AND we ate at the Tex Mex on our last day, as i posted previously, cos we were looking for a quick snack before our flight! I dont think you can compare the 2 places, the TM is commercial with a capital C, and as i said before, Bonys is packed!!! seems alot of peeps want more of what Jose is offering!
As Med said (hi Med ) times do change.

I think that this thread has now run its course with several viewpoints represented and so plenty of information for new visitors to PP to make up their own minds.

Thank you all for your contributions!

In the "Holiday in Puerto Pollensa summer 2008" magazine which I picked up , visiting in May, there is an advert for Bonys and mention of a website, which appears still to be under construction even today.

Can someone maybe speak to Jose and see what's happening?
