alhambra bar pollenca
Shame to see yet another traditional bar closing. Even though it's going to open in the art gallery next to cafe Espanyol, can't see it being the same:(
|
I heard that it was opening next to Ca'n Moixet.Where is Cafe Espanyol?

Is this the bar on a narrow back street which you would not know was there. Don't know the name of the street. It is entered up a couple of steps through a small door. Adios Dave |
I think it's the one behind the church, where the little cockerel is. Very popular with locals.
|
Yes thats the one I think, next to the stationery shop opposite La Font and the road that goes up to La Font del Gall, as you say very popular with the locals but small, I expect they are moving because the new one is larger?
|
I also heard the other art gallery in the square will become a cafe/bar/restaurant, as well as the new building work opposite the church. That gives 7 cafes/resraurants and 2 bars in the top square, 5 resturants in the bottom square and 3 restaurants in adjacent alleys to the square. Too much for my liking, although it might force the competition for price and quality which is not a bad thing.
But where are they going to put all the outside seats? It might force the council to enforce a seating restriction! |
Hey Flyer, where did you find the picture of Cafe Espanyol (Ca'n Moixet)? It's mine!!! I photographed it a few years ago as a multiple exposure - see the kid in the yellow T-shirt. I recently found it being used by one of the local estate agents, Balearic Properties. Despite being copyrighted they never coughed up any "dosh"!
As regards the bar, I agree with popimages, it's going to get pretty crammed at the top half of the square. |
I think it will improve things, the evenings we have spent starring at the derelict buildings and the shop when it shuts up early, to have restaurants all the way around will seem more complete, and as you say will help competition and hopefully raise standards even further
