Default JKs Bar is closed.

I arrived in PP yesterday and saw that my usual (and preferred) sports bar is not open, with no notice of when it will be.....

Does any one know when JKs will be open again?

So then Sparky, what's the story?

Lack of custom?
Owners put the rent up by a ridiculous amount?

A. N. Other?!

Was never one of my favourite drinking spots but staff always friendly and helpful when I needed help setting up my apartment. Shame...

It was a very complicated set up in JK's in as much as the Sky dish was on the roof of the building next door and the owner has decided that it can't stay there any longer, the owner of the bar is also being difficult and the smoking ban has had a big impact because there is no outside area. Plus you can watch all the televised sport just about anywhere these days

Cheers. Combination of several things then. In light of all that and it being stuck out of the way, I can't see much hope for the place?

Thanks for the update, Sparky.
Might get along to the Marina Cafe on Thursday and meet one or two forum members.

I had a feeling JK's would not re-open. The "technical difficulties" re the satellite dish should not really cause a viable business to shut. It is unlikely anyone will make a go of this location as a bar now. It has no outside space for smokers (or a view), and there is too much competition, even from "cafes".

There are a few bars in out of the way places similarly affected. Is "The Hunter" El Cazador still in business?

Adios

Dave
